Settles for no-decision Miley didn't factor in the decision against Colorado on Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out two batters over six innings.

Impact Miley made it through six scoreless frames before allowing three straight batters to reach to open the seventh. All three came around to score, putting a sour ending on what had appeared to be another impressive outing by the southpaw. Coming into Thursday, Miley had given up just three total earned runs over his previous three starts covering 18 innings. He still managed to pick up his fourth quality start of the campaign in Colorado, and his 2.31 season ERA ranks 12th among qualified starters.

Impact Miley continued his excellent start to 2023. He has pitched at least five innings in every start and has allowed three runs or less each time out. The strikeout numbers are not there, as he has just five punch outs in 11 innings over his last two starts. However his ERA is a minuscule 1.86 and his WHIP is an even 1.00.

He completed seven innings for the first time since May 16 and his eight strikeouts were his most since Sept. 7, 2021. Miley typically isn't known for being a strikeout type of pitcher, but he was able to neutralize the Padres' lineup with relative ease. The 36-year-old has tossed shutouts now in two-of-three starts to kick off the year and now stands at a 1.50 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and a 14:3 K:BB over 18 innings. He tentatively lines up to face the Red Sox at home next weekend.
