Optioned to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.
Impact
Black fared well in his brief stint with the big club, going 9-for-27 while plating seven runs in nine contests. However, with Christian Yelich (groin) back from the injured list, Black's playing time was likely to be further reduced. He'll play more regularly with Nashville.

Sitting again Monday
Black is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.
Impact
After hitting the bench for Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Nationals while right-hander Zack Littell served as Washington's primary pitcher, Black will remain out of the starting nine against a righty starter (Kyle Leahy) for the series opener in St. Louis. Since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on April 24, Black has shined at the plate with nine hits -- including four doubles -- and seven RBI over 21 at-bats, but his pathway to regular playing time appears to have closed with the Brewers bringing Jackson Chourio (hand) and Andrew Vaughn (hand) back from the injured list Monday. Black could be optioned back to Nashville in the coming days if Milwaukee wants him to continue playing on an everyday basis rather than seeing limited action in a utility role at the big-league level.

Sitting against right-hander
Black is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals.
Impact
Black will hit the bench for the second straight day, this time sitting against a righty (Zack Littell) after he was held out of the lineup Saturday against Nationals lefty Foster Griffin. Though he's produced a 1.074 OPS in six games since being called up from Triple-A Nashville on April 24 and appeared to have settled in as the Brewers' preferred option at designated hitter against righties, Black could soon be headed back to the minors. The Brewers are expected to activate Andrew Vaughn (hand) from the injured list Monday and may not have room for Black as a left-handed bench bat who offers limited defensive flexibility.

ROTOWIRE
Not in Saturday's lineup
Black is not in the Brewers' starting lineup against the Nationals on Saturday.
Impact
The Nationals are sending southpaw Foster Griffin to the mound for Saturday's contest, so the lefty-hitting Black will be on the bench for the start of the game while Gary Sanchez serves as the Brewers' designated hitter and bat out of the cleanup spot. Black has gone 9-for-21 (.429) with four doubles and seven RBI since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville in late April.

Settling in at DH versus righties
Black will start at designated hitter and bat fifth in Thursday's game versus the Diamondbacks.
Impact
With Christian Yelich (groin) still out, the left-handed-hitting Black is settling in as the Brewers' primary DH against right-handers, having now made four starts in five games in such situations. He's off to a nice start, going 5-for-14 with three RBI.

Drives in three in three-hit night
Black went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run scored in Tuesday's 13-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact
Black turned in a strong performance at the plate, recording hits in three straight innings, including a two-run single in the fifth that helped spark Milwaukee's big offensive night. The outing marked his first career multi-RBI game in 26 MLB appearances. Since being recalled, Black has made an immediate impact, going 5-for-13 with a double, three RBI and two runs scored.

Summoned to big leagues
The Brewers recalled Black from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
Black has hit .282/.378/.410 with one home run and two steals in 10 games for Nashville since returning from an undisclosed injury. The left-handed bat could see some action against right-handed pitching while the Brewers navigate injuries to Christian Yelich (groin), Jackson Chourio (hand) and Andrew Vaughn (hand).

Returns from IL
Black (undisclosed) went 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored Sunday in Triple-A Nashville's 4-2 loss to Worcester after being activated from the 7-day injured list.
Impact
Black missed about two weeks of action due to the undisclosed injury but picked up right where he left off upon being cleared to play, as his ninth-inning double extended his hitting streak to seven games. With three key pieces for Milwaukee on the 10-day injured list (Christian Yelich, Jackson Chourio and Andrew Vaughn), Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Sunday that Black could be an option to join the big club at some point in the near future once he gets in some more at-bats with Nashville, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Sidelined at Triple-A
Triple-A Nashville placed Black on the 7-day injured list April 8 with an undisclosed injury.
Impact
Black had his best big-league camp to date, logging a 1.522 OPS with three steals in six games, but he landed on the IL shortly after getting demoted to Triple-A to start the season. He slashed .269/.387/.385 with one home run and one steal in seven games while playing left field (five games), right field (one game) and first base (one game). In the past, Black has missed time with a broken hamate and a broken thumb, but it's unclear how long he'll be out this time.

Sent down to Nashville
The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Black played well for the Brewers in the Cactus League, going 11-for-20 with 14 RBI, six runs scored and three steals in just six games. He cooled down while playing for Canada in the World Baseball Classic, however, tallying just one hit and five strikeouts in his 10 at-bats. Andrew Vaughn and Jake Bauers are expected to receive the vast majority of starts at first base for Milwaukee, so Black will likely spend most of the season as a depth piece at Nashville.

Sizzling early this spring
Black is 8-for-12 (.667) with a home run, two doubles, a triple, eight RBI, three steals and a 1:2 BB:K through four games this spring.
Impact
Black has been on an absolute heater to open the exhibition season, both at the plate and on the basepaths. Once a top prospect, Black faded a bit in recent years, but he is still only 25 years old and is not out of the picture yet. Black remains without a defensive position, and Christian Yelich is slated to be the primary designated hitter for the Brewers, but if he stays hot he could just force Milwaukee to get creative.

Returning to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Monday.
Impact
Milwaukee promoted Black from Nashville on Friday after Blake Perkins and Isaac Collins were placed on the bereavement list and paternity list, respectively, but the 25-year-old will head back to the minors with both players having since rejoined the Brewers. During his brief stay with the big club, Black didn't make a start but appeared in two of the Brewers' three games in Cincinnati over the weekend, going 0-for-2 with three walks.

Called up Friday
The Brewers recalled Black from Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Impact
The 26-year-old was up with the Brewers for a few days in late July and went 2-for-6 with two walks, a double, an RBI and a run in three games. Black will rejoin the big club ahead of the three-game set this weekend in Cincinnati, and he should have a path to playing time with Blake Perkins (bereavement) and Isaac Collins (paternity) away from the team.
