Optioned to Triple-A The Brewers optioned Black to Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

Impact Black fared well in his brief stint with the big club, going 9-for-27 while plating seven runs in nine contests. However, with Christian Yelich (groin) back from the injured list, Black's playing time was likely to be further reduced. He'll play more regularly with Nashville.

Sitting again Monday Black is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Cardinals.

Impact After hitting the bench for Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Nationals while right-hander Zack Littell served as Washington's primary pitcher, Black will remain out of the starting nine against a righty starter (Kyle Leahy) for the series opener in St. Louis. Since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville on April 24, Black has shined at the plate with nine hits -- including four doubles -- and seven RBI over 21 at-bats, but his pathway to regular playing time appears to have closed with the Brewers bringing Jackson Chourio (hand) and Andrew Vaughn (hand) back from the injured list Monday. Black could be optioned back to Nashville in the coming days if Milwaukee wants him to continue playing on an everyday basis rather than seeing limited action in a utility role at the big-league level.

Impact Black will hit the bench for the second straight day, this time sitting against a righty (Zack Littell) after he was held out of the lineup Saturday against Nationals lefty Foster Griffin. Though he's produced a 1.074 OPS in six games since being called up from Triple-A Nashville on April 24 and appeared to have settled in as the Brewers' preferred option at designated hitter against righties, Black could soon be headed back to the minors. The Brewers are expected to activate Andrew Vaughn (hand) from the injured list Monday and may not have room for Black as a left-handed bench bat who offers limited defensive flexibility.

Impact The Nationals are sending southpaw Foster Griffin to the mound for Saturday's contest, so the lefty-hitting Black will be on the bench for the start of the game while Gary Sanchez serves as the Brewers' designated hitter and bat out of the cleanup spot. Black has gone 9-for-21 (.429) with four doubles and seven RBI since being recalled from Triple-A Nashville in late April.

Impact Black has hit .282/.378/.410 with one home run and two steals in 10 games for Nashville since returning from an undisclosed injury. The left-handed bat could see some action against right-handed pitching while the Brewers navigate injuries to Christian Yelich (groin), Jackson Chourio (hand) and Andrew Vaughn (hand).

Impact Black had his best big-league camp to date, logging a 1.522 OPS with three steals in six games, but he landed on the IL shortly after getting demoted to Triple-A to start the season. He slashed .269/.387/.385 with one home run and one steal in seven games while playing left field (five games), right field (one game) and first base (one game). In the past, Black has missed time with a broken hamate and a broken thumb, but it's unclear how long he'll be out this time.
