Trevor Megill Has Quietly Flipped His Season for Brewers The Milwaukee Brewers closer is starting to get back on track after a brutal start to the 2026 season.

Picks up second hold Tuesday Megill struck out one in a perfect sixth inning Tuesday to record his second hold of the season in a 12-4 win over the Tigers.
Impact The Brewers were ahead 3-1 when the right-hander took the mound, but it was still far from the ninth-inning usage Megill is used to seeing. His performance was encouraging, as he fired 10 of 14 pitches for strikes, but his 9.00 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 10:4 K:BB through eight innings on the season remain sketchy. For now, Abner Uribe appears to be the top closing option for manager Pat Murphy, at least until Megill puts together a sustained run of success.

Milwaukee's Mitchell doubles in the 10th in 7-5 win over Miami

Garrett Mitchell went 2 for 4 with three RBIs including a two-run double in the 10th inning and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Miami Marlins 7-5

Earns fourth save Megill earned the save in Friday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Marlins, allowing one unearned run on one hit while striking out two in the 10th inning.
Impact Megill was tasked with protecting a three-run lead in the bottom of the 10th inning and did so despite allowing a run to score on a wild pitch. After yielding seven earned runs across consecutive appearances April 10 and 14, he's now picked up a hold and a save in back-to-back solid outings. Angel Zerpa and Abner Uribe, who earned the team's previous two saves, worked the eighth and ninth innings in that order Friday, so Megill's outlook as the team's closer remains murky for now.

APRIL 16 • MLB.COM
Another poor outing Megill blew his save chance during Tuesday's 9-7 extra-inning loss to Toronto. He allowed three runs on three hits and one walk over one inning. He did not strike out a batter.
Impact The last time Megill took the mound was his disastrous outing against the Nationals on Friday, when he took the loss after yielding four runs on two hits without recording an out. Things weren't much better for the veteran right-hander Tuesday, who avoided the loss only after the Brewers tied things up at 6-6 in the bottom of the frame. After giving up one run through his first four outings of the season, Megill has yielded seven runs over his last two appearances, which has him at a preposterous 14.40 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over five innings. His recent performances may force Brewers manager Pat Murphy to turn to different options out of the bullpen for save opportunities, though Angel Zerpa is the only other Milwaukee pitcher other than Megill to have logged a save in 2026.

Blue Jays batter Brewers' bullpen to win 9-7 in 10 innings as Milwaukee drops 6th straight

Implodes in ninth, takes loss Megill (0-2) took the loss Friday against the Nationals, allowing four runs on two hits without recording an out.
Impact With the game tied 3-3, Megill came on for the top of the ninth inning. He hit CJ Abrams with a pitch, allowed a bunt single to Joey Wiemer, surrendered an RBI single to Luis Garcia, threw the ball away on a sacrifice bunt by Jorbit Vivas and then Milwaukee was unable to get an out on a safety squeeze by Drew Millas. After five batters and nine pitches, Megill's night was over. Megill entered play Friday with a 2.25 ERA but now will take an 11.25 ERA and 5:3 K:BB across four innings into his next appearance.

Vivas and Millas drive in runs as Nationals succeed on 3 bunts in 4-run 9th to beat Brewers 7-3

Notches third save Megill picked up the save in Sunday's 8-5 victory over the Royals. He allowed one hit and no walks with no strikeouts in a scoreless ninth inning.
Impact The right-hander was handed a three-run cushion and worked around a two-out single by Bobby Witt to lock down his third save in as many tries this season. Megill gave up a run and took a loss against Tampa Bay on March 30, but he's otherwise been unscored upon in his other three appearances. Overall he has a 2.25 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 5:3 K:BB through four frames in 2026.

Contreras, Harrison lead Brewers to 8-5 win over Royals

William Contreras had a double and two RBIs and Kyle Harrison struck out six as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Kansas City Royals 8-5
APRIL 5 • Associated Press
Holds on for second save Megill picked up the save Saturday against the Royals, allowing no hits and two walks in a scoreless ninth inning. He struck out two.
Impact The right-hander did make things interesting, allowing the tying run to get to the plate, but he caught Vinnie Pasquantino looking to end the game. Though Abner Uribe presents a pretty considerable threat in the bullpen, Megill looks to be Milwaukee's primary closer to begin the new year. He's converted each of his first two save chances, but Megill has walked three over three innings so far and will be looking to improve his control going forward.

Saddled with loss against Tampa Bay Megill (0-1) allowed one run on one hit and one walk in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Rays. He struck out one.
Impact Megill was brought on to open the top of the ninth of a 2-2 game and got Junior Caminero to ground out before striking out Ben Williamson. However, Megill walked Jonny DeLuca and then surrendered an RBI double to Nick Fortes. Megill appears to have a solid hold on the closer job for the Brewers after securing his first save of the season Sunday against the White Sox. After pitching back-to-back days, Megill is likely unavailable for Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay.

Fortes' tiebreaking double in 9th gives Rays 3-2 win over Brewers

Fans two for first save of 2026 Megill earned the save in the Brewers' 9-7 win over the White Sox on Sunday, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
Impact The Brewers bats rallied with a six-run eighth inning, and Megill was brought out for the top of the ninth for his first save opportunity of the season. He yielded a single to Tristan Peters before striking out the next two batters, and Megill came away with the save after getting Miguel Vargas to fly out to right field. Megill is looking to build off a solid 2025 regular season in which he collected a career-high 30 saves (eighth most in the majors) while posting a 2.49 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 60:17 K:BB across 47 innings.

Makes first spring appearance Megill tossed a scoreless inning of relief in Sunday's spring game against the Royals. He did not allow a hit, struck out a batter and walked another.
Impact It was reported last Monday that Megill received a PRP injection in his forearm at some point over the offseason, but he took the mound for the first time this spring less than a week later, and per Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel hit 98.3 mph on the radar gun. The arm issues are something to be aware of, but it's also tough to ignore the 30 saves he recorded last season and 21 the year before. Megill is in line to open the season as Milwaukee's closer, and Abner Uribe is presumably next in line should Megill need a breather or wind up unavailable.
MARCH 2 • ROTOWIRE
Offseason PRP injection Megill had a PRP injection this offseason after missing time during the 2025 season due to a forearm strain, Todd Rosiak of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Meanwhile, manag...
Impact The Brewers' bullpen situation is especially tough to project, because they have so many different good options, even beyond Megill and Abner Uribe. Moreover, both Megill and Uribe are being priced in the draft market as near full-time closers. While their respective ratios and strikeouts mitigate some of the costs of missing out on saves, it's difficult to draft both and miss out on production at another position.
FEBRUARY 23 • ROTOWIRE
Settles at $4.7 million The Brewers and Megill avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $4.7 million contract Thursday, Ari Alexander of 7 News Boston reports.
Impact It's a nice raise for Megill, who was eligible for salary arbitration for the second time. The 32-year-old notched a career-high 30 saves in 2025, collecting a 2.49 ERA and 60:17 K:BB over 47 regular-season innings. Megill should open the 2026 campaign as the Brewers' closer, but Abner Uribe could also be in the mix to save games.
