Impact Megill was summoned to protect a two-run lead in the ninth inning but coughed it up before escaping in a 5-5 tie, ultimately picking up the win after the Brewers scored four runs in the top of the 10th. It was a discouraging outing for the 32-year-old, as he entered the contest having converted four straight saves during a stretch of seven scoreless appearances dating back to May 15. For the year, he's 6-for-8 in save chances with a 4.70 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 29:7 K:BB across 23 innings.

Megill has now converted his last four save chances and has surrendered just two earned runs across his last 15 appearances dating back to April 16. After a bumpy start to the season, Megill has been tagged for earned runs in only two of his last 14 appearances, posting a 1.29 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 18:2 K:BB over 14 innings during that stretch while producing three saves and six holds. Despite the turnaround, manager Pat Murphy appears content to let Megill share the closing load with Abner Uribe for the time being rather than reclaim the role on a full-time basis.

Angel Zerpa and Abner Uribe, who earned the team's previous two saves, worked the eighth and ninth innings in that order Friday, so Megill's outlook as the team's closer remains murky for now.

Another poor outing Megill blew his save chance during Tuesday's 9-7 extra-inning loss to Toronto. He allowed three runs on three hits and one walk over one inning. He did not strike out a batter.

Impact The last time Megill took the mound was his disastrous outing against the Nationals on Friday, when he took the loss after yielding four runs on two hits without recording an out. Things weren't much better for the veteran right-hander Tuesday, who avoided the loss only after the Brewers tied things up at 6-6 in the bottom of the frame. After giving up one run through his first four outings of the season, Megill has yielded seven runs over his last two appearances, which has him at a preposterous 14.40 ERA and 2.40 WHIP over five innings. His recent performances may force Brewers manager Pat Murphy to turn to different options out of the bullpen for save opportunities, though Angel Zerpa is the only other Milwaukee pitcher other than Megill to have logged a save in 2026.

Impact With the game tied 3-3, Megill came on for the top of the ninth inning. He hit CJ Abrams with a pitch, allowed a bunt single to Joey Wiemer, surrendered an RBI single to Luis Garcia, threw the ball away on a sacrifice bunt by Jorbit Vivas and then Milwaukee was unable to get an out on a safety squeeze by Drew Millas.
