Impact
The 35-year-old righty tossed 48 of 73 pitches for strikes before getting the hook, but Sugano may have been catching too much of the plate -- Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and Ryan McMahon all took him deep in the first two innings. Sugano lost his last five decisions to put his first North American season in the books, with his last win coming Aug. 14, and over 157 innings for Baltimore he posted a 4.64 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 106:36 K:BB.

Jumped early in loss
Sugano (10-9) took the loss against the Yankees on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with three strikeouts over three innings.
Impact
Sugano allowed a three-run homer in the first inning and a solo shot in the third while generating just seven whiffs on 87 pitches. The 35-year-old has allowed four runs or more in four of his past five starts and has been limited to only three frames in two of his three September outings. He owns a 4.54 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 103:36 K:BB across 152.2 innings and lines up to close his campaign in a road rematch with the Yankees next weekend.

Logs quality start in no-decision
Sugano completed six innings against Toronto on Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and no walks while striking out four batters over six innings.
Impact
Sugano made an early exit in his previous start after being hit on the foot by a comebacker, and he had another injury scare Saturday when he was struck on the left leg on another comebacker in the first inning. This time around the right-hander was able to remain in the game, and he looked no worse for wear as he fired six strong innings. The only run Sugano allowed came on an Addison Barger solo homer in the fifth frame, and the Japanese hurler finished with his first quality start since Aug. 8. Sugano allowed 15 runs (14 earned) over his previous three starts spanning 12.1 innings coming into Saturday, so this was a much-needed bounce-back outing. He'll carry a 4.39 ERA into his next start, which is slated to be a tough matchup against the Yankees next week.

In clear to start Saturday
Orioles interim manager Tony Mansolino confirmed that Sugano (foot) will start Saturday's game against the Blue Jays in Toronto, Matt Weyrich of The Baltimore Sun reports.
Impact
During his most recent start in this past Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Dodgers, Sugano was forced out in the top of the fourth inning after being struck on the right foot by a comebacker. Fortunately for the Orioles, the right-hander avoided any fractures on his foot and didn't experience extensive swelling either, putting him on track to make his next start this weekend on his usual five days' rest. Since the All-Star break, Sugano has gone 3-3 with a 4.67 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 37:13 K:BB in 44.1 innings over his nine starts.

Expects to make next start
Sugano said Tuesday that his right foot didn't swell as much as anticipated and he expects to be ready to make his next scheduled start, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact
Sugano had to be lifted from Sunday's start against the Dodgers after being struck on the foot by a comebacker, but it doesn't sound like the injury will cost him any additional time. The right-hander is tentatively schedule to start Sunday's game in Toronto.

X-rays negative
Interim manager Tony Mansolino said after Sunday's loss to the Dodgers that Sugano had X-rays on his right foot come back negative, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The right-hander was forced from Sunday's start after being struck in the foot by a comebacker, but he appears to have avoided a serious injury. His availability for the next turn through the rotation will likely depend on how the foot bounces back over the next few days. Sugano's record fell to 10-8 after giving up four runs on seven hits with one strikeout and no walks across three innings versus Los Angeles.

Exits with foot injury
Sugano was removed from Sunday's start against the Dodgers due to right foot discomfort, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact
The right-hander surrendered four runs, including three homers, across his first three innings before being struck by a comebacker in the fourth inning, which ended his day. Sugano limped off the field after the incident and should be considered day-to-day as he continues to be evaluated.
