LeMahieu, Voit near milestones for Yankees in win over Miami

SEPTEMBER 27, 2020 • Associated Press
In lineup for nightcap La Stella (head) will bat third as the designated hitter in the second half of Saturday's doubleheader against Seattle, Matt Kawahara of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact La Stella left the afternoon contest after getting struck in the head by a throw while sliding into third base. Manager Bob Melvin said after the game that La Stella was fine and had simply been removed for a pinch runner as already planned. The fact that La Stella is right back in the lineup confirms that there are no fears that he's dealing with a concussion or other head injury.

No concerns about head injury La Stella (head) is "fine" according to manager Bob Melvin, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact La Stella left the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mariners after getting struck in the head by a throw while sliding into third base on a triple. While a potential head injury is always worrisome, the Athletics don't seem particularly concerned about this one, as Melvin said he intended to pinch run for La Stella anyway.

Exits with possible head injury La Stella left Saturday's game against Seattle after getting hit in the head with a throw while running the bases, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact La Stella led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a triple but was struck in the head while sliding into the base. The severity of the injury is not yet clear, but he'll likely sit for Sunday's season finale if the Athletics are even remotely concerned about a possible concussion.

Drives in two runs La Stella went 1-for-3 with a two-run triple and a walk during Saturday's 6-0 win over the Giants.
Impact La Stella extended his hit streak to seven games and is now 11-for-30 during that stretch. The veteran infielder has a .310/.383/.437 slash line with one homer, 14 runs and 11 RBI in 19 games since being acquired by the A's ahead of the trade deadline.

Launches fifth homer La Stella went 1-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk and an additional run scored in a loss to the Rangers on Sunday.
Impact La Stella continued to produce out of the leadoff spot Sunday, and he notably got the starting call at third base in place of Matt Chapman (hip). La Stella appears set as a near everyday fixture in the lineup -- particularly with the thinning depth in the infield -- as the 31-year-old is now slashing .304/.377/.457 with four doubles, Sunday's homer, seven RBI, six walks and 11 runs across 12 September games, impressively striking out just once in that span.

Minimal strikeout rate keys success La Stella, who entered Saturday's game against the Rangers hitting .344 over his last eight games, is thriving since arriving in Oakland largely because of a microscopic 2.7 percen...
Impact La Stella's ability to make contact at an elite clip led to another productive night in Friday's win, when he went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs. It's also helped offset his middling 18.8 percent hard-contact rate during that eight-game stretch and led to the infielder being an instant asset to the playoff-bound Athletics. The 31-year-old already generated an impressive 8.9 percent strikeout rate in Los Angeles in 2019, and not only does he appear to be on his way to improving on that figure this season, he's also drawing walks at an above-average 11.8 percent clip.

Key part of Wednesday's win La Stella went 2-for-5 with a two-RBI double and a run scored in Wednesday's 3-2 win over the Astros.
Impact La Stella tied the game with his two-run double in the seventh inning. In the ninth, he got aboard with a fielder's choice and scored on Ramon Laureano's walkoff single. Through 36 games this season, La Stella is slashing .275/.360/.458 with four homers, a stolen base, 18 RBI and 20 runs scored. He's on a six-game hitting streak, going 9-for-25 (.360) with three RBI, five runs scored and four doubles in that span.

Braves break NL scoring record in 29-9 romp over Marlins

SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 • Associated Press
Picking it up in new locale La Stella, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two runs in a loss to the Padres on Sunday, has already made his value evident to manager Bob Melvin, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com repor...
Impact La Stella now has back-to-back 2-for-4, one-double showings after starting his Athletics career in a brief 0-for-7 funk. The 31-year-old has a solid .272/.364/.465 line for the season overall, and he sports an MLB-low 6.2 percent strikeout rate among qualifying hitters. La Stella's penchant for consistent contact and ability to set the table out of the leadoff spot -- as he did twice Sunday -- could certainly be critical down the stretch as Oakland attempts to hold on to first place in the AL West.

Collects RBI in debut La Stella made his Athletics debut during the second game of a doubleheader against the Astros on Saturday and went 0-for-3 with an RBI groundout.
Impact As expected, La Stella started at second base and hit second, and he was at least able to make a modest impact despite not hitting safely in his first game with Oakland. The 31-year-old is expected to provide a more potent offensive presence at the keystone over the remainder of the season than either Chad Pinder (paternity) or Tony Kemp, and he could see the bulk of playing time at the position for what remains of the season.
AUGUST 30, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Making A's debut in nightcap La Stella is starting at second base and batting second in Game 2 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Astros.
Impact The 31-year-old was acquired from the Angels on Friday and did not see the field during the first game Saturday, but he'll make his debut with the Athletics in the nightcap. La Stella will look to continue his strong season after posting a .273/.371/.475 slash line with four homers in 28 games before the trade.
