Rangers finally see deGrom in a game, against minor leaguers

Two-time National League Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom finally pitched in a game for the Texas Rangers, though it was on a back field against minor leaguers

Penn Murfee - Dominant start to spring Murfee has fired five hitless innings over his first five Cactus League appearances, allowing a walk and hitting a batter while recording five strikeouts.
Impact Murfee is believed to have the inside track for a top setup role in 2023, although the likes of Andres Munoz and Diego Castillo could certainly also see their fair share of eighth-inning work when not serving as closers alongside Paul Sewald. The 28-year-old Murfee was highly impressive as a rookie in 2022, recording a 4-0 record, 2.99 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, 9.9 K/9 and seven holds across 69.1 innings over 64 appearances.

Matt Festa - Good start to spring Festa has fired two perfect innings during which he's recorded two strikeouts across two Cactus League appearances this spring.
Impact The 30-year-old right-hander logged a career-high 54 innings across 53 appearances in 2022, posting a 2-0 record, two saves, six holds, 4.17 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Festa produced an impressive 10.7 K/9 along the way and was involved in high-leverage work at times, but he's likely ticketed for more of a sixth- and seventh-inning role in 2023 as long as there aren't a rash of injuries in front of him.

Matt Brash - Rocky spring thus far Brash has allowed five earned runs on four hits and four walks while recording two strikeouts across 1.1 innings in two Cactus League appearances this spring.
Impact The right-hander is looking to carve out a relief role this spring but has seen his usual control issues rear their head over a small sample. Brash worked out of the bullpen from July 9 onward last season upon being called up from Triple-A Tacoma and acquitted himself well, posting a 3-1 record, 2.35 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, nine holds and a 12.6 K/9 across 30.2 innings, albeit while also generating a bloated 4.7 BB/9.

Brennan Bernardino - Heads to minors The Mariners optioned Bernardino to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.
Impact Bernardino made his big-league debut as a 30-year-old reliever in 2022, making two appearances out of Seattle's bullpen. The lefty impressed enough in his limited time with the Mariners and over a larger body of work at Tacoma to remain on the 40-man roster through the offseason, but the fact that Bernardino has two minor-league options remaining likely worked against him in his bid for a spot in Seattle's Opening Day bullpen.

Kolten Wong - Scuffling at plate in spring Wong went into Monday's Cactus League matchup against the Angels hitting .185 (5-for-27) with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs across 10 spring training games.
Impact The veteran trade acquisition has struck out an acceptable six times over 28 plate appearances, so it's possible he's also been on the wrong side of luck on at least a handful of occasions when putting the ball in play. Wong slugged a career-best 15 homers for the Brewers in 2021 while also posting his highest strikeout rate (17.7 percent) since his rookie 2013 campaign, but he still remains a highly reliable contact hitter with some solid pop that's proven capable of 40-plus extra-base hits on multiple occasions throughout his long career.
