The A's couldn't stop Joey Gallo. And no, they probably aren't trading for him Joey Gallo would be a great fit for the Athletics — but don't start measuring him for that green-and-white uniform just yet.

Sean Manaea - Drops third straight start Manaea (6-5) took the loss Thursday against Texas, allowing four runs on nine hits and a walk over five innings. He had six strikeouts.
Impact Home runs by Nate Lowe in the fourth inning and Joey Gallo in the fifth broke things open for the Rangers, who managed to put 10 runners on base against Manaea on the day. It was the third straight loss for the lefty despite a 24:6 KK:BB over 16.1 innings during that stretch. Manaea will take a 3.13 ERA and 1.24 WHIP into his next scheduled start, projected to come next week in Houston.

Adolis García - Swipes eighth bag in win Garcia went 1-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored against the Athletics on Thursday.
Impact Garcia got things started for the Texas offense, doubling off Sean Manaea in the first inning and stealing third base before scoring on Joey Gallo's two-out single. The stolen base was the eighth of the year for Garcia, who had a tough day otherwise with three strikeouts. The 28-year-old cooled off considerably in June, slashing .242/.284/.432 with four homers in 95 at-bats, but he still ranks tied for eighth in the majors with 55 RBI on the year.

John Hicks - Homers in 2021 debut Hicks went 2-for-4 with a home run and a pair of runs scored Thursday against Oakland.
Impact Making his first major-league appearance since 2019, the former Mariner and Tiger blasted a solo homer in the sixth inning and added a single in the eighth. The 31-year-old has enjoyed productive stretches in his previous MLB stints -- he had a .766 OPS for Detroit in 2017 and popped 13 homers in 2019 -- but is likely headed back to Triple-A Round Rock once Jose Trevino (forearm) is back to full health.

Nate Lowe - Goes deep twice Lowe went 2-for-3 with a pair of home runs, three RBI, two runs and a walk in Thursday's win over the Athletics.
Impact Lowe connected for a solo blast off starter Sean Manaea in the fourth inning and added a two-run shot off Deolis Guerra in the seventh, his 11th and 12th round-trippers of the year. Lowe hit just two home runs during the entire month of June, although he was able to maintain some fantasy value with a .365 on-base percentage during that stretch. Lowe is slashing .260/.360/.424 in 336 plate appearances overall this season and has driven in 43 runs.
