Adrian Sampson - Optioned to Triple-A Sampson was optioned to Triple-A Iowa on Saturday, Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic reports.
Impact Sampson was competing with Hayden Wesneski for the Cubs' fifth starter role, but it's Wesneski who emerged the winner. Sampson's 8.66 ERA in spring training certainly didn't help his case. Rather than keep him around as the long man in the bullpen, the Cubs elected to send him to the minors, presumably to keep him stretched out.

Jake Odorizzi - Could require long absence Odorizzi's arm injury could keep him out long enough to require a trip to the 60-day injured list, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Odorizzi has been dealing with arm fatigue this spring, and it seems as though the issue may be more serious than that. His timeline isn't entirely clear, but the fact that a trip to the 60-day injured list is in play suggests that he's set to miss substantial time.

Brandon Hughes - Throws off mound Hughes (knee) threw off a mound Saturday, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hughes has dealt with left knee inflammation throughout spring, which may wind up sending him to the injured list. Saturday's session was a sign of progress, but it remains unclear if he'll have time to finish his build-up process before Opening Day.

Glenn Otto - Could hit 60-day injured list Otto (lat) has been shut down for three weeks and may wind up on the 60-day injured list, Jeff Wilson of RangersToday.com reports.
Impact Otto went down with what was originally referred to as lat tightness in mid-March. His injury is evidently much more serious than that, as it's unlikely he's ready for game action until late May.
