Back with Texas The Rangers recalled Otanez from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday, per Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News.

Impact Otanez will rejoin the big-league club for the first time since being designated for assignment June 13. With Round Rock this season, the right-hander owns a 5-1 record, 4.42 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 74:42 K:BB over 55 innings. Texas optioned Robby Ahlstrom to Triple-A to make room for Otanez on the active roster.

Impact Ahlstrom will head back to Triple-A after spending just under three weeks with the big-league club. In six games since being called up, the southpaw yielded four earned runs while striking out six over 5.2 innings. The Rangers are recalling Michel Otanez to replace Ahlstrom on the active roster.

Impact Pederson missed a fourth consecutive game Thursday after suffering a slight fracture of his left hand Saturday when he was hit by a pitch. The first three of those four missed contests were against left-handers, so Pederson would not have been in the starting lineup, and he was replaced at DH on Thursday by Josh Jung against Boston right-hander Sonny Gray. The Rangers are scheduled do face another right-hander Friday, Toronto's Dylan Cease.

Belts solo shot Jung went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Red Sox.

Impact Jung took Sonny Gray deep in the first inning. This was Jung's first homer since the end of June, though he missed a large portion of the second half due to a calf strain. The third baseman has started all five games since he was activated, though he rested his legs as the designated hitter Thursday. He's batting .298 with an .810 OPS, 10 homers, 38 RBI, 50 runs scored, 25 doubles, one triple and one stolen base over 97 contests this year.
