Launches pinch hit homer Pederson went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Yankees.

Impact Pederson entered the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and belted a solo home run. It was just the second home run and third extra-base hit over 27 games this season for Pederson. He'll continue to serve as the designated hitter against right-handers, but the Rangers should be open to replacement options. Since signing with Texas in 2024, Pederson has slashed .192/.301/.633 OPS with 11 home runs over 123 games.

Moved to second in order Jung batted second and went 1-for-2 with two walks in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Yankees.

Impact Jung, who's been on a tear lately, was moved to second in the order for the first time this season. He was the fourth different Ranger to hit at that spot in the order, which had been the home of Wyatt Langford (forearm) before he was placed on the 10-day injured list last week. Jung entered the night slashing .410/.442/.923 with four home runs and 11 RBI over the previous 10 games.

Serves up three homers in loss Leiter (1-2) took the loss against the Yankees on Monday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four batters over six innings.

Impact All four runs Leiter gave up came across the third and fourth innings, and all four were courtesy of the long ball. It was the first time the right-hander gave up more than two homers in a game this season, and it snapped a string of two straight homerless outings by Leiter. He did tie a season high by completing six frames, but Leiter has now given up at least three earned runs in four straight starts. He'll carry an unhappy 5.17 ERA into his next start, which lines up to be a road matchup against the Tigers.

Sticks in platoon role Duran will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game against the Yankees.

Impact Though he looked to be a candidate to move into a full-time role after Wyatt Langford (forearm) was placed on the injured list Wednesday, Duran has started in just one of the Rangers' ensuing three matchups versus right-handed pitching. Duran will be back in the lineup Monday while southpaw Max Fried takes the hill for New York, but the Rangers appear set to prioritize the left-handed-hitting Alejeandro Osuna over him in the corner outfield when the team faces righties.

Heading to bench Monday Jansen is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Impact Jansen will be rested Monday after he picked up starts behind the plate in the final two games of the Rangers' weekend series versus the Athletics. Kyle Higashioka will handle catching duties in the series opener against New York.

Receiving night off versus lefty Smith is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Impact Texas will send the left-handed-hitting Smith to the bench while southpaw Max Fried toes the rubber for New York in the series opener. Ezequiel Duran will cover second base in Smith's absence.

Impact As per usual, the left-handed-hitting Pederson will hit the bench while the Rangers match up with a southpaw starter (Max Fried) for the series opener. Andrew McCutchen will step in for Pederson as the Rangers' designated hitter and will bat fifth.

Filling strong side of platoon Osuna is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees.

Impact Since being promoted from Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday, the left-handed-hitting Osuna has drawn starts in three of the Rangers' ensuing six games. Two of Osuna's three absences have come against left-handed pitching, so the 23-year-old looks like he could be deployed in the strong side of a platoon in left field with either Sam Haggerty or Ezequiel Duran until Wyatt Langford (forearm) is ready to return from the injured list.

Grabs MiLB deal from Rangers The Rangers signed Castillo to a minor-league contract Monday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.

Impact Castillo had been playing in the Mexican League for Algodoneros de Union Laguna. The 28-year-old utility player is a career .208/.257/.383 hitter over parts of three big-league seasons. Castillo last appeared in the majors in 2024.

Shutout in relief Alexander went one inning allowing no runs on two hits in a 2-1 loss to the Athletics on Sunday.

Impact Once again Alexander pitched a scoreless frame, marking the 12th appearance he has done so to date. The 31-year-old has allowed just one earned run, in tune to his 0.63 ERA, through his first 14.1 innings pitched. The left-hander has been the most efficient and utilized asset out of the Rangers bullpen through 28 games.

Tough-luck loss Sunday Rocker (1-2) took the loss Sunday against the Athletics, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out three.

Impact The Athletics got to the 26-year-old right-hander early, scoring both of their runs in the opening frame, but Rocker regained his footing thereafter. While he did tie a season low in strikeouts, Rocker turned in his second straight start of at least six frames while yielding two runs or fewer. Rocker has a respectable 3.38 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 22:10 K:BB across his first 26.2 innings, but a tough assignment against the Tigers is on tap for his next outing.

Supplies game-winning hit Jung went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Athletics.

Impact Jung provided the margin of victory in the sixth inning with a two-run homer, his fourth HR of the season. It continued a stretch in which the third baseman has made an impact; Jung's batting .400 (14-for-35) with 10 extra-base hits, 11 RBI, a stolen base and seven runs scored across nine contests.

Hits 97 mph in rehab outing Baumler (intercostal) allowed one run on two hits over one inning in a rehab outing at Triple-A Round Rock last Wednesday.

Impact Baumler's fastball touched 97 mph during the outing, which is encouraging. The Rangers want him to throw on back-to-back days before the right-hander rejoins the club.
