Cooper Kinney - Limited power at Single-A Kinney is slashing .254/.323/.366 with six home runs in 77 games for Single-A Charleston.
Impact A shoulder injury robbed Kinney of his 2022 season and he played just 11 games in the Florida Complex League after getting drafted with the 34th overall pick in 2021. He has split time between second base, first base and designated hitter, and he will need to provide more offense in the coming years to project that far down the defensive spectrum.

Rangers host the Rays on 4-game home win streak

The Texas Rangers, on a four-game home winning streak, host the Tampa Bay Rays
JULY 18, 2023 • Associated Press
Josh Lowe - Flashes power and speed in loss Lowe went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Rangers.
Impact It was a quiet day for Tampa Bay's offense, but Lowe did his best to carry the squad with two of the team's five hits. One of those was a solo shot to center field in the second inning that temporarily put the Rays up 2-0. Lowe also nabbed his 20th stolen base of the campaign, which has added significant value to his fantasy profile after he stole just four bases over 54 games to prior to this season.

Shane McClanahan - Sharp in return McClanahan allowed two runs on three hits and no walks while striking out six batters over six innings in a no-decision against Texas on Monday.
Impact McClanahan landed on the IL with a back injury July 1, but he needed only a near-minimum stay before facing the Rangers on Monday. The southpaw dominated in his first five frames, holding Texas scoreless on just one hit. However, Ezequiel Duran tagged him for a two-run homer in the sixth inning, which proved to be McClanahan's final frame despite the fact that he needed just 69 pitches to reach that point. The low pitch count was likely a result of Tampa Bay being cautious following the star hurler's recent injury, though it speaks volumes that McClanahan was able to notch a quality start without reaching 70 pitches. He'll presumably face no limitations moving forward, with his next start tentatively scheduled to come at home against Baltimore this weekend.

Shane McClanahan - Could see normal workload Manager Kevin Cash expects McClanahan to make "very close to a normal start" Monday night against the Rangers, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact McClanahan hasn't fired more than 66 pitches in a game in over a month, but Cash feels the southpaw is healthy and ready to handle a normal start, if efficient. McClanahan's last start took place June 30 against the Mariners before landing on the 15-day injured list with mid-back tightness.

Isaac Paredes - Sitting Monday Paredes is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Rangers.
Impact Taylor Walls will step in at third base after Paredes manned the hot corner for the final two games of the Rays' series with the Royals over the weekend. Paredes connected on his 17th home run of the season in Sunday's 8-4 win, giving him four long balls in seven games thus far in July.

Shane McClanahan - Activated for Monday's start McClanahan (back) was activated from the 15-day injured list Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact McClanahan will rejoin the Rays' rotation on Monday in a road start versus the Rangers. The left-hander has missed all of July with a nagging back issue but is ready to go now after skipping a rehab assignment. McClanahan hasn't thrown more than 66 pitches in a start in a month, so he probably won't be ready for a full workload Monday.
JULY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Yandy Díaz - Back from paternity list Diaz (personal) was reinstated from the paternity list Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact Diaz will be back with the Rays as they head to Texas for a three-game series with the Rangers. The 31-year-old will look to pick up where he left off prior to the All-Star break, going 9-for-16 with a homer, a double, four RBI and two runs scored over his last four games. Jonathan Aranda was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday to open a roster spot for the returning Diaz.
JULY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Yonny Chirinos - Dropped from 40-man roster The Rays designated Chirinos for assignment Monday, Ryan Bass of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact Tampa Bay had been treating Chirinos as its de facto No. 5 starter heading into the All-Star break, but the right-hander was summoned in long relief of starter Zach Eflin during Sunday's 8-4 loss to the Royals and proceeded to give up three earned runs on four hits -- including three home runs -- in 4.2 innings. Due to his 50-pitch workload, Chirinos wasn't likely to be available for at least a few games, and his lack of freshness and poor peripherals on the season (5.31 SIERA, 4.2 K-BB%) provided enough reason for Tampa Bay to remove him from its 40-man roster. The Rays reinstated lefty Shane McClanahan (back) from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.
JULY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Jonathan Aranda - Optioned to Triple-A Aranda was optioned to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.
Impact Aranda will return to Durham after getting called up Thursday, going 2-for-7 with a run scored while appearing in the first two games of the Rays' series with Kansas City. With Yandy Diaz returning from the paternity list Monday, Tampa Bay no longer needed Aranda on the big-league roster.
JULY 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Austin Shenton - Promoted to Triple-A Shenton was promoted from Double-A Montgomery to Triple-A Durham.
Impact Shenton is already 25, so he is old for a player making his Triple-A debut. After being roughly league average at Double-A in 2021 (103 wRC+) and 2022 (100 wRC+), Shenton was 58 percent better than league average this year, slashing .307/.415/.567 with 15 home runs in 73 games. He received the majority of his starts at third base while at Double-A, but Shenton has been filling in at first base for Kyle Manzardo (undisclosed), who is on the injured list.
