Takes another walk-off loss Dominguez (3-4) allowed a run on one hit and struck out one over one-third of an inning to take the loss Wednesday versus the Mets.
Impact Dominguez will be happy to leave Citi Field, as he's taken two walk-off losses during the Orioles' three-game series in Queens. Jesse Winker delivered the decisive solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to send Dominguez to his second straight loss. The right-hander is now at a 4.40 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 55:15 K:BB through 47 innings this year. He's added four saves and five holds, and while he's been the Orioles' top closing option in August, that could change quickly if he doesn't correct course from his current slump.

Gets walked off Monday Dominguez (3-3) allowed one run on one hit and struck out one in one-third of an inning to take the loss versus the Mets on Monday.
Impact Dominguez was called on to keep the game tied at 3-3 in the ninth inning, but he allowed a one-out solo home run to Francisco Alvarez. This was the second outing in a row in which Dominguez has given up a run after previously posting a five-inning scoreless streak. For the season, he's now at a 4.24 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 54:15 K:BB over 46.2 innings while adding four saves and five holds. Dominguez has emerged as manager Brandon Hyde's top closing option this month, but his grip on that role is tenuous even with Craig Kimbrel struggling. Yennier Cano and Cionel Perez are also options to see late-inning work.
AUGUST 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Collects fourth save Dominguez earned his fourth save of the season Sunday against the Red Sox, allowing one earned run on one hit and zero walks in 1.1 innings. He struck out three.
Impact Dominguez allowed a solo home run to Rob Refsnyder in the ninth but was otherwise excellent, escaping a bases loaded jam in the eighth and striking out three batters in the ninth inning. With incumbent closer Craig Kimbrel allowing earned runs in back-to-back appearances, manager Brandon Hyde appears to have turned over the closer role to the newly-acquired Dominguez. The 29-year-old Dominguez has been superb since coming over from Philadelphia on July 26, converting all three of his save chances while logging a robust 1.74 ERA, 0.77 WHIP and 13:3 K:BB in 10.1 innings.
AUGUST 19, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Racks up third save Dominguez walked one and struck out one in a scoreless ninth inning Wednesday to record his third save of the season, and second with the Orioles, in a 4-1 win over the Nationals.
Impact Craig Kimbrel last pitched Sunday, but it was still Dominguez that manager Brandon Hyde turned to in the ninth Wednesday to protect a three-run lead. There's been no official word that Kimbrel is out as Baltimore's closer, but his hold on the job is looking tenuous at the moment. Since coming over from the Phillies, Dominguez has produced an impressive 1.00 ERA, 0.78 WHIP and 10:3 K:BB through nine innings, and he's picked up the last two saves for the O's.

Nabs first save with new team Dominguez walked one and struck out one over a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Rays.
Impact Dominguez has steadied himself since he was traded from the Phillies to the Orioles on July 26. Over eight innings with Baltimore, he has allowed just one run with a 9:2 K:BB, and now he has a save. It's especially noteworthy he got the save chance Saturday, as regular closer Craig Kimbrel hadn't pitched over the last three days. Kimbrel has allowed nine runs (seven earned) over his last 7.2 innings, but he's on a three-inning scoreless streak. Manager Brandon Hyde told reporters after the game that he's trying to keep the pressure off Kimbrel during his recent slump while also giving the veteran a vote of confidence, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports, but this usage suggests Dominguez has established himself as a high-leverage option with his new team. For the year, Dominguez has a 4.09 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 49:14 K:BB while adding two saves and five holds over 44 innings.

Phillies acquire former All-Star for Seranthony Dominguez, Cristian Pache The Phillies made a surprising trade with the Baltimore Orioles where they sent two major leaguers in return.
JULY 26, 2024 • NJ.COM
Shipped to Baltimore The Orioles acquired Dominguez and outfielder Cristian Pache from the Phillies in exchange for outfielder Austin Hays on Friday.
Impact Dominguez was a reliable high-leverage bullpen arm for the Phillies in previous seasons, but he's struggled to a 4.75 ERA and career-worst 1.5 HR/9 in 38 outings this year. The right-hander's 40:12 K:BB and 1.22 WHIP are more encouraging, and the Orioles likely hope he can pitch closer to his 3.25 xERA

Focusing on consistency Dominguez is focusing on his mindset this spring in an effort to stop overthinking as he looks to bounce back from a disappointing 2023 season, Alex Coffey of the Philadelphia Inqu...
Impact Dominguez's ERA rose from 3.00 in 2022 to 3.78 in 2023, with his 4.90 xFIP suggesting that things could easily have been a good deal worse. Of particular concern is Dominguez's strikeout rate, which dropped from 29.5 percent to 21.4 percent. Per Coffey's report, the righty isn't overhauling his delivery or pitch mix this winter, instead focusing on, "trying to manage his delivery less now, rather than thinking about it when he's halfway down the mound." Whether or not that helps Dominguez get back to peak form, something which is needed if he's to carve out save chances in a deep Phillies bullpen, remains to be seen.

Picks up second save Dominguez picked up the save in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Marlins, allowing one hit while striking out one over a scoreless inning.
Impact Dominguez was called upon in the bottom of the ninth to protect a two-run lead and proceeded to give up a leadoff single to Jazz Chisholm before retiring the next three batters. The right-hander has now converted his last two save opportunities after previously blowing all five of his save attempts prior to Aug. 1. With Thursday's scoreless appearance Dominguez lowered his season ERA to 4.45.
AUGUST 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Nabs first save Dominguez picked up the save in Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Marlins, striking out one over a scoreless inning.
Impact After the Phillies rallied to score three runs in the top of the ninth inning, Dominguez was called upon to protect a two-run lead with Craig Kimbrel unavailable. He'd send the top of Miami's lineup down in order, earning his first save of the year. It was certainly a positive outing from Dominguez, who'd pitched to a 14.73 ERA in his previous five outings. Overall, Dominguez sports a 4.60 ERA with a 1.60 WHIP and 31:12 K:BB across 29.1 innings this season.

Activated from injured list Philadelphia activated Dominguez (oblique) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.
Impact Dominguez will back in the Phillies' bullpen Tuesday night against the Orioles after missing about five weeks with a left oblique strain. The 28-year-old setup man has posted a 4.33 ERA and 28:11 K:BB in 27 innings (32 appearances) this season when healthy.
JULY 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Slated to return Tuesday Dominguez (oblique) is slated to be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Impact Dominguez has been sidelined since mid-June with a left oblique strain, but he's impressed in two rehab appearances at Triple-A Lehigh Valley with five strikeouts over two scoreless frames. He'll provide the Phillies with a late-inning relief option.
JULY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Poised for rehab assignment Dominguez (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment on Friday or Saturday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Impact Dominguez is expected to require 2-to-3 rehab appearances before rejoining the Phillies' bullpen, setting him up for a return before the end of next week. The hard-throwing reliever has been sidelined since mid-June with a left oblique strain.
JULY 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Throws live batting practice Dominguez (oblique) threw a live batting practice session Friday, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Impact It appears to be the first time he's faced hitters since he went down with a left oblique strain in mid-June. Dominguez would appear close to rejoining the Phillies' bullpen, although it's unclear whether he will require a rehab assignment first.
JULY 14, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Throws bullpen session Dominguez (oblique) threw a bullpen session Sunday, Destiny Lugardo of PhilliesNation.comreports.
Impact Dominguez started up his throwing program last weekend and has quickly progressed to mound work as he's fully recovered from the oblique strain that landed him on the shelf June 17. The right-hander isn't expected to rejoin the active roster until after the All-Star break.
JULY 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Unlikely back before break Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday that Dominguez (oblique) is unlikely to return before the All-Star break, Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Impact Dominguez resumed throwing earlier this week, but he's still limited to flat-ground work as the Phillies ease along his recovery from the left oblique strain that sent him to the injured list June 17. He'll probably get on a mound sometime next week and could be ready for activation around mid-to-late July as long as there are no setbacks.
JUNE 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Back to throwing Dominguez (oblique) played catch Sunday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.
Impact The right-hander hadn't thrown since he landed on the shelf June 17 with an oblique strain, but he can now begin to ramp back up. Dominguez won't return when first eligible July 7, with the first game after the All-Star break on July 14 appearing to be a more realistic target.
JUNE 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Placed on injured list The Phillies placed Dominguez on the 15-day injured list Saturday (retroactive to Friday) with a left oblique strain.
Impact Dominguez holds a 6.00 ERA and 1.67 WHIP across six innings since the beginning of June and will now be held out until the start of July due to his injury. Yunior Marte was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in a corresponding move and will take Dominguez's place in Philadelphia's bullpen.
JUNE 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Takes loss Sunday Dominguez (0-1) blew the save and took the loss Sunday against the Reds. He allowed three runs on two hits and two walks while striking out two over one inning.
Impact Dominguez was called upon for his first save opportunity of the season Sunday with the Phillies holding a one-run lead, but he gave up a pair of walks, a single and a double with one out in the ninth inning to lose the lead. While the right-hander had tossed three scoreless innings in his last three appearances, he's given up at least three runs in two of his first five outings in 2023. The Phillies haven't had many save chances early in the season, but Craig Kimbrel, Gregory Soto and Jose Alvarado could see some ninth-inning work given Dominguez's struggles.
