Nathaniel Lowe - Heads to bench Lowe will sit Friday against the Red Sox.
Impact Lowe finds himself on the bench for the second time in three days. Both occasions have come against lefties like Friday's starter Chris Sale, though Lowe had previously been in the lineup against three straight southpaws. Andy Ibanez will be the first baseman on this occasion, with Yonny Hernandez occupying Ibanez's usual spot at second base.

Nick Solak - Recalled by Rangers Solak was called up from Triple-A Round Rock on Friday.
Impact Solak was demoted in late July after hitting a disappointing .225/.295/.353 in 92 games. He's shown hints of power, speed and contact at times in his career, but he's now hit a modest .250/.322/.375 in 183 career games while homering 16 times and stealing 13 bases, a package that doesn't look very exciting outside of deep leagues. The Rangers are evidently happy with what he showed in roughly a month of Triple-A action and have plenty of at-bats to offer him down the stretch, but his recent track record indicates he may not do all that much with the opportunity.

Nick Snyder - Contract selected by Rangers Snyder's contract was selected by the Rangers on Friday, Levi Weaver of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 25-year-old hadn't pitched above Low-A prior to this season, but he's ascended quickly up the ladder this year and will pitch at his fourth stop of the year once he makes his big-league debut. In 33 innings of relief in the three highest levels of the minors this season, the righty owns a 2.45 ERA and 0.85 WHIP, striking out 38.2 percent of opposing batters while walking 4.1 percent. Snyder will presumably begin his career in a low-leverage role, but the Rangers have little in the way of proven options at the back of their bullpen, so it's possible he earns higher-leverage opportunities before too long if he can come anywhere close to replicating his minor-league success in the majors.

J.P. Crawford - On base thrice in win Crawford went 2-for-5 with a walk and two runs in an extra-innings win over the Rangers on Thursday.
Impact Crawford was productive out of the leadoff role in the marathon win, authoring his third two-hit effort of the last four games. The veteran shortstop has enjoyed a resurgent August overall, as he owns a .304 average, .776 OPS and impressively modest 14.3 percent strikeout rate over his last 15 contests.

Joe Smith - Gets second win Smith (2-1) was credited with the victory in an extra-innings win over the Rangers on Thursday, issuing a walk over a scoreless 10th inning.
Impact The impressive groove the veteran reliever has been in since joining the Mariners on July 27 continued Thursday, as Smith extended his scoreless streak in a Seattle uniform to eight innings. The 37-year-old appears to slowly be working his way into higher-leverage situations due to his strong body of work, as he has two holds in addition to Thursday's win with his new club.

Diego Castillo - Falters in ninth-inning assignment Castillo was charged with his fifth blown save of the season in an extra-innings win over the Rangers on Thursday, allowing two earned runs on a hit, a walk and a wild pitch over o...
Impact Castillo inherited a two-on, none-out situation when he entered the game in the bottom of the ninth, and he ended up hurting his own cause by uncorking a wild pitch and allowing a game-tying three-run home run to Jason Martin. The right-hander had carried a string of five straight scoreless appearances into Thursday's outing, but he's already been charged with a loss and three blown saves overall since donning a Mariners uniform.

Kyle Seager - Plates pair in win Seager went 1-for-5 with an RBI double and a bases-loaded walk in an extra-innings win over the Rangers on Thursday.
Impact Seager opened the scoring on what would be a prolific day for offense on either side by lacing an RBI two-bagger that plated J.P. Crawford in the first inning. With 78 RBI, the veteran third baseman has now tied his best mark in that category over the last four seasons, and he's demonstrated a propensity for putting particularly good wood on the ball during the second half of the season with a .547 slugging percentage largely fueled by four doubles and 11 home runs.
