Cory Abbott - Moved to minors campThe Mariners reassigned Abbott to minor-league camp Saturday, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.
ImpactAbbott surrendered two runs over one inning during his lone spring appearance with Seattle, and he'll officially drop out of the race for the Opening Day roster as the Mariners make their first round of cuts. Abbott will likely begin 2024 in Triple-A, where he posted a 4.98 ERA and 1.38 WHIP across 56 innings last season.

Julio Rodríguez - Back in lineupRodriguez (hand) is batting second and starting in center field for Saturday's Cactus League game against Oakland, Shannon Drayer of Seattle Sports 710 AM reports.
ImpactRodriguez developed minor inflammation on the back of his left hand after taking batting practice Monday but was able to wear his glove and play catch the next day. Now fully healed, the 23-year-old All-Star is set to return to Cactus League play without any limitations.

Cole Young - Thriving early in springYoung went 1-for-2 with a solo home run in the Mariners' Cactus League loss to the White Sox on Thursday.
ImpactThe precocious 20-year-old extended his spring hitting streak to three games with his fifth-inning solo shot. The fact Young is enjoying early success against big-league arms this spring isn't necessarily surprising, considering he's done nothing but hit over his first four minor-league stops in his first two professional seasons. Young has slashed .286/.402/.858 across stints ranging from Rookie ball to High-A, complementing those eye-catching figures with equally impressive 14.2 percent and 14.5 percent walk and strikeout rates, respectively. Young likely doesn't have much left to prove at High-A Everett after a productive 48-game stint there last season, so he's almost certainly ticketed to start the campaign at Double-A Arkansas.

Cade Marlowe - Productive in Cactus League lossMarlowe went 2-for-2 with an RBI single, a double, a stolen base and two runs in the Mariners' Cactus League loss to the White Sox on Thursday.
ImpactMarlowe was reasonably effective during his first taste of the majors last season, posting a .239/.330/.420 slash line with eight extra-base hits (three doubles, two triples, three home runs), 11 RBI and four stolen bases among his contributions. The 26-year-old, who's capable of slotting in across the outfield, had opened spring training in a brief 0-for-6 skid before Thursday's breakout.
