Sunday's start moved to Tuesday
Burke's scheduled start against the Twins on Sunday has been moved to Tuesday's series opener against the Pirates, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports.
Impact
The White Sox have yet to name a starter for Sunday's series finale after Burke's scheduled outing was pushed back by a couple of days. Across nine starts since the All-Star break, Burke has a 2-2 record with a 2.76 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 52:21 K:BB over 49 innings.

Bounces back, earns win Tuesday
Burke (8-6) earned the win Tuesday against the Astros after tossing 5.2 scoreless innings with six strikeouts. He allowed one hit and walked four.
Impact
Burke bounced back nicely after issuing a career-high eight walks over three-plus innings in his previous start. He walked the first two batters Tuesday but escaped the opening frame and didn't surrender his first hit until Taylor Trammell doubled in the fifth. This was Burke's fifth scoreless outing of the season, and he's been pitching well -- this outing lowered his ERA to 3.20, and he owns a strong 2.76 ERA with a 1.08 WHIP in nine starts since the All-Star break. His next start should come at home against the Twins over the weekend.

Total lack of control Wednesday
Burke allowed two runs on two hits and eight walks while striking out three over three-plus innings in a no-decision versus the Rangers on Wednesday.
Impact
Burke's control just wasn't there, and he ended up exiting at 92 pitches (46 strikes) while posting a fairly unusual stat line. His previous high mark for walks in a start was five, done in back-to-back outings to begin June. The right-hander was at least able to limit damage, and the White Sox's offense handled the rest. Burke is at a 3.32 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 161:50 K:BB through 149 innings over 27 games (23 starts) this season. He still has a passable 3.0 BB/9 as well, and it's unlikely his control will falter to this extent too much more often, as long as he's not battling an injury. Burke is tentatively projected to make his next start at Houston.

Gives up four runs in no-decision
Burke didn't factor into the decision Friday against the Mets after allowing four runs on seven hits while striking out four over six innings.
Impact
Burke struggled early, allowing three runs over the first four innings before Bo Bichette extended New York's advantage with a solo homer in the fifth. The right-hander nevertheless completed six frames without issuing a walk, and Chicago's three-homer outburst in the bottom of the sixth ultimately got him off the hook. Burke has pitched particularly well over the last two months despite remaining winless since July 19, posting a 2.90 ERA in 40.1 innings across seven starts since the All-Star break. He's tabbed to make his next start at home against the Rangers.

Hit hard in no-decision
Burke did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Tigers, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks while striking out two over 4.1 innings.
Impact
Burke ran into most of his trouble in the second inning, surrendering three runs on four hits and two walks before escaping a bases-loaded jam to prevent further damage. Colt Keith then jumped on the first pitch of the third inning for a solo homer. The four runs were the most Burke has allowed in a start over his last 10 outings, a dominant stretch in which he posted a 1.60 ERA with a 79:11 K:BB across 62 innings. He'll look to bounce back in his next scheduled start Friday against the Mets.

Dominant effort in no-decision
Burke did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Reds, allowing one run on three hits and no walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings.
Impact
Burke allowed a solo homer in the fifth inning but was otherwise superb, generating a whopping 20 swinging strikes on 94 pitches and departing with a 4-1 lead his bullpen could not secure. It was an encouraging effort after the 26-year-old failed to complete five frames for the first time since June 13 on Wednesday, and he's now logged quality starts in six of his past seven outings overall. He'll carry a 2.99 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 152:39 K across 135.2 innings this season into a road matchup with the Tigers this weekend.

Stumbles in sixth loss
Burke (7-6) took the loss Wednesday against the Red Sox, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Impact
Wednesday's outing disrupted an exceptional stretch of play for Burke, who entered the day on a streak of five consecutive starts with at least six innings while yielding two runs or fewer. The right-hander labored, needing 91 pitches to finish 4.1 frames, and the four punchouts were his fewest since May 8 versus Seattle. Burke is set to carry what's still an outstanding 3.08 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 144:39 K:BB over 128.2 innings into a home matchup with the Reds.
