Impact Burke put the Sox in an early hole by allowing consecutive singles to Alex Bregman and Ian Happ to give the Cubs a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Burke bounced back and kept the North Siders off the scoreboard for the next two frames, but he allowed a combined seven batters to reach base during the fourth and fifth, inflating the Cubs' lead to 4-1 at the time of the 26-year-old's removal. The Pale Hose tied the game at four apiece in the sixth inning, taking Burke off the hook for the loss, but that does little to help the fact that he's given up 10 earned runs in 8.2 innings over his last two starts. He'll have a chance to redeem himself next week when he takes the mound in Seattle to face a Mariners offense that ranks in the bottom third of MLB with a .232 batting average.

Impact Burke will be working behind an opener for the second time this season, after he previously covered six innings out of the bullpen in an April 3 win over the Blue Jays. By having the left-handed Hudson open the game, the White Sox will allow the right-handed Burke to begin his appearance with some easier matchups rather than having to start with a top half of a Nationals lineup that typically includes three left-handed hitters in James Wood, Luis Garcia and CJ Abrams.

Impact Burke threw first-pitch strikes to only 10 of the 22 batters he faced, but he nonetheless managed to keep the Diamondbacks out of the scoring column until the fourth inning, at which point Chicago had given him a seven-run lead. The right-hander yielded another run in the fifth but nonetheless managed to pick up his first victory and second quality start of the campaign. Burke has mostly pitched well this season, allowing three of fewer runs in four of his first five starts. He's lined up to face Washington at home in his next outing.

Impact Burke looked in cruise control early on, but he gave up homers to Junior Caminero and Jake Fraley, as well as an RBI double to Jonathan Aranda, en route to his second loss of the season. The 26-year-old right-hander has completed at least six innings in just one of his four starts and has allowed 11 runs (10 earned) in 20.1 frames, so he's far from being a reliable option in most formats, although the 17:6 K:BB does give him some appeal as a low-end starting option. Still, it's hard to trust Burke to pitch deep into games, which limits his upside considerably.
