Ryan Walker - Picks up 12th save Walker allowed a hit and struck out two in a scoreless inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Cubs.
Impact Walker has retaken the closer role since Randy Rodriguez (elbow) was injured over the weekend. This was Walker's seventh straight scoreless outing, and he has racked up 10 strikeouts without walking a batter over 7.1 innings in that span. For the season, he's up to 12 saves, eight holds and four blown saves with a 3.57 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 53:14 K:BB through 53 innings. Walker is likely to go unchallenged for closing duties while Rodriguez and Erik Miller (elbow) are both out.

Justin Verlander - Earns win over Cubs Verlander (2-10) allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings to earn the win over the Cubs on Tuesday.
Impact Verlander's performance has swung wildly in August, as he's allowed 15 runs (14 earned) over 27.1 innings across his five starts this month. Tuesday's outing was his first win of the month, as he was able to effectively mitigate the traffic on the basepaths. Verlander is now at a 4.55 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 104:39 K:BB over 116.2 innings over 23 starts this season. The 42-year-old is projected for a home start versus the Orioles this weekend.

Landen Roupp - Bone bruise confirmed A second opinion on Roupp's left knee confirmed a deep bone bruise Tuesday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact Roupp initially believed he had torn his ACL when he was struck by a comebacker Wednesday, but his official diagnosis ended up being much less severe. He's expected to miss roughly four weeks, which could mean he's thrown his final pitch of 2025, but it leaves him in a much better position to begin the 2026 campaign at full health.

Keaton Winn - Back in big leagues The Giants recalled Winn from Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact The right-hander was optioned to Sacramento last week but is back with the Giants on Tuesday since Randy Rodriguez (elbow) landed on the injured list. Winn has made just two appearances with the Giants this year and has an 8.86 ERA at Triple-A.

Randy Rodríguez - Lands on IL The Giants placed Rodriguez on the 15-day injured list Tuesday, retroactive to Saturday, with a sprained right elbow.
Impact Rodriguez was unavailable out of the bullpen for the past few days while battling an elbow issue he picked up during Sunday's win over Milwaukee. Manager Bob Melvin was hopeful the 25-year-old righty would be back in time for Tuesday's series opener against the Cubs, but the Giants will instead be without their primary closer until at least Sept. 7. Ryan Walker will presumably take over as San Francisco's preferred ninth-inning option for the short-term future, and Keaton Winn will come up from Triple-A to replenish the team's bullpen depth.

Carson Whisenhunt - Remaining in rotation Whisenhunt is slated to start Wednesday's game against the Cubs at Oracle Park.
Impact Optioned to Triple-A Sacramento on Aug. 12 after turning in a 5.02 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 12:7 K:BB in 14.1 innings through his first three MLB starts, Whisenhunt received a call back to the Giants less than two weeks later when an injury to Landen Roupp (knee) reopened a spot in the rotation. Whisenhunt took the hill Friday in Milwaukee and kept the Brewers off the board through the first three frames, but he struggled in his second turn through the batting order and was ultimately tagged for two earned runs on four hits, two walks and one hit batsman across four innings before being lifted from the contest. Despite Whisenhunt's poor numbers in the big leagues to date, he'll receive at least one more start while the Giants are short on quality alternatives at Triple-A to replace him in the rotation.

Willy Adames - Logs seventh stolen base in win Adames went 2-for-3 with two walks and a stolen base in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Brewers.
Impact Adames singled to center field in the sixth and subsequently stole second base. The shortstop added another single in the eighth, marking his second multi-hit performance in the Giants' three-game series in Milwaukee. Adames' recent success is an encouraging sign, as he has struggled to stay consistent throughout August, slashing .160/.269/.383 with 13 runs scored, eight RBI, six homers, three stolen bases and a 30.1 percent strikeout rate across 93 plate appearances in 21 games.
