GAME LOG

Patrick Bailey - Idle Saturday Bailey isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against Baltimore, Andres Soto of MLB.com reports.
Impact Bailey has notched hits in back-to-back contests, but he'll step out of the starting nine Saturday while Andrew Knizner catches for right-hander Carson Seymour and bats ninth.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Spencer Bivens - Picks up win Friday Bivens (3-3) earned the win after throwing 1.2 scoreless relief innings in Friday's 15-8 victory over the Orioles.
Impact Bivens entered the game with a three-run lead and one out in the fifth inning, retiring all five batters he faced on just 11 pitches (five strikes). Over eight appearances this month, the right-hander has recorded a 2.77 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 8:3 K:BB in 13 innings. Overall, the 31-year-old owns a 4.21 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB across 66.1 innings in 44 outings.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Matthew Gage - Tosses scoreless outing Friday Gage threw a scoreless inning in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles, allowing one hit and striking out one.
Impact Gage gave up a leadoff single but retired the next three batters he faced, throwing 10 of his 15 pitches for strikes. Over 17 appearances with San Francisco, the left-hander has recorded a 1.04 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 17:6 K:BB across 17.1 innings. Overall, he owns a 0.78 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 20:8 K:BB in 23 innings across 23 appearances (two starts) between the Giants and Tigers.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Matt Chapman - Logs two RBI in win Chapman went 1-for-3 with two RBI, two runs scored and one walk in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.
Impact Chapman hit an infield single with the bases loaded in the first inning, driving in San Francisco's first run before later coming around to score. The third baseman added another RBI on a sacrifice fly in the second and drew a walk in the fourth before scoring again. Chapman had struggled earlier this month before being placed on the 10-day injured list due to right hand inflammation. Since being reinstated after a minimum stay, he's slashing .286/.385/.619 with seven runs scored, six RBI, two home runs and two stolen bases across 26 plate appearances in six games.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Drew Gilbert - Doubles twice in win Gilbert went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI and a run scored in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.
Impact Gilbert lined his first double to right field in the third inning, driving in a run. He later reached on a fielder's choice in the seventh before coming around to score. The 24-year-old added another double in the ninth, bringing in his second RBI of the game. It marked his second big-league outing with multiple hits and multiple RBI. Over 15 appearances, Gilbert is slashing .139/.139/.278 with four RBI, two runs scored, two doubles, one homer and one stolen base across 36 plate appearances.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Carson Seymour - First MLB start on tap The Giants named Seymour their starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the Orioles at Oracle Park, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
Impact After turning in a 3.74 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 16:9 K:BB in 21.2 innings while making his first 10 MLB appearances as a reliever, Seymour will get the chance to make his first big-league start Saturday while the Giants have an opening in the rotation due to Landen Roupp's (knee) continued absence. Seymour's most recent appearance came Wednesday versus the Cubs, but he tossed just 16 pitches in that outing and should be reasonably well rested. However, given that Seymour hasn't covered more than three innings in the majors or minors since June 19, the Giants may not allow him to work deep enough into Saturday's start to qualify for a win.

Willy Adames - Stays hot with four hits Adames went 4-for-6 with one RBI, one stolen base and three runs scored in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.
Impact Adames has gone 10-for-28 (.357) across his last seven games, a span that includes a pair of two-homer performances. He's added seven RBI and two steals in that span to provide well-rounded contributions. The veteran shortstop is up to a .229/.317/.419 slash line with 24 homers, eight steals, 70 RBI, 82 runs scored, 18 doubles and two triples over 133 contests this season.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Dominic Smith - Knocks homer in Friday's win Smith went 2-for-3 with a home run, four total RBI and one walk in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.
Impact Smith continues to play well in a strong-side platoon role at first base. He's 22-for-71 (.310) with six extra-base hits and 15 RBI over 21 contests in August, though his homer Friday was his first since Aug. 2. The first baseman is up to a .284/.339/.414 slash line with four homers, 27 RBI, 21 runs scored, 10 doubles and two stolen bases across 54 games. Smith will likely continue to share first base with Rafael Devers, who is usually at the position when the Giants are facing a left-handed pitcher.

Luis Matos - Big game in win Matos went 4-for-5 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored in Friday's 15-8 win over the Orioles.
Impact Matos had a two-run single in the first inning and a solo homer in the fifth. This was his fifth multi-hit effort over his last eight games since returning to the majors after a nearly three-week stint at Triple-A Sacramento. The hot hitting is helping him claim a starting role for the Giants as their primary right fielder, though he was in left field Friday while Heliot Ramos rested. Matos is now slashing .222/.263/.465 with eight homers, 20 RBI, 22 runs scored and four stolen bases over 152 plate appearances this season.
AUGUST 30 • ROTOWIRE
Robbie Ray - Yields six runs Friday Ray allowed six runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over 4.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Orioles on Friday.
Impact Ray had some trouble with Ryan Mountcastle, who drove in four of the six runs on the southpaw's line. However, the Giants' offense was even better, helping Ray to avoid the loss. The 33-year-old had a mediocre August, allowing 19 runs (16 earned) over 35 innings across six starts for the month. On the year, he's at a 3.18 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 163:64 K:BB through 164 innings over 28 starts. His next outing is projected to be in Colorado.

Randy RodrĂguez - TJ surgery recommended Rodriguez (elbow) will decide this weekend whether to undergo Tommy John surgery, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Rodriguez landed on the 15-day IL on Tuesday (retroactive to Saturday) due to a right elbow issue, and after consulting multiple doctors, the injury is believed to be severe enough for Tommy John surgery to be recommended. The 25-year-old is expected to make his decision this weekend, but surgery would keep him out of action for the entire 2026 season and potentially part of the 2027 campaign as well.

Impact The Giants will give Ramos a breather during Friday's series opener after he went 5-for-10 with a homer, two RBI and four runs scored in three games against the Cubs. Luis Matos will move over to left field as a result, allowing Drew Gilbert to start in right while batting ninth.
