Ha-Seong Kim - Joining team on road this week Padres manager Mike Shildt said Monday on 97.3 The Fan that Kim (shoulder) is slated to join the club in St. Louis on Tuesday.
Impact Shildt noted that Kim was scheduled to have his injured right shoulder examined again Monday and, presuming everything looks OK, the infielder would then rejoin the club on the road. It's not clear what the next step would be, but it would likely include the resumption of baseball activities. Kim is first eligible to return from the 10-day injured list Thursday but it's uncertain whether he might have a shot to be back by that date.

Yu Darvish - Throws simulated game Padres manager Mike Shildt said Monday on 97.3 The Fan that Darvish (elbow) threw a simulated game Sunday which included three "up and downs."
Impact Shildt added that Darvish recovered well from the session and the next step will either be another simulated game or perhaps a rehab start. Darvish was recently shifted from the restricted list back to the 15-day injured list, but he's considered healthy and it's all about rebuilding his stamina at this point. There should be more clarity on a potential timetable later this week.

Fernando Tatis - Expected to face live pitching soon Padres manager Mike Shildt told 97.3 The Fan on Monday that Tatis (thigh) is at the Padres' training complex in Arizona and is ready to take live at-bats.
Impact Tatis has been on the injured list since late June but recently began ramping up his activity, including running at about 70 percent on the field last week. Facing live pitching will be another step in his progression toward a minor-league rehab assignment, which could be around the corner. If Tatis continues to move forward without any setbacks, a return to the Padres in the first half of September isn't out of the question.

Xander Bogaerts - Swipes bag Monday Bogaerts went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in a 7-4 win over St. Louis on Monday.
Impact Bogaerts' RBI came on a sacrifice fly in the fifth frame. The second baseman is batting a respectable .276 in August, but he has only one homer and a modest nine RBI through 23 games. The lack of power and run production has been a season-long issue for Bogaerts -- he has just six home runs and 29 RBI across 83 contests overall.

Randy Vásquez - Yields two runs Vasquez (4-6) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over six innings Monday, striking out two and earning a win over St. Louis.
Impact Vasquez was called up to make his first MLB appearance since Aug. 8 and delivered a quality start. It was his first win since throwing six shutout frames against Washington on July 23. Vasquez has now made 18 starts with the Padres this season. He registered a 5.70 ERA through the first nine and a 3.40 ERA over his last nine. Vasquez will carry a 4.52 ERA into his next start, which is currently lined up to be in Tampa Bay.

Jackson Merrill - Collects three RBI Merrill went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a stolen base in Monday's win over the Cardinals.
Impact Merrill knocked a two-run single in the third inning before delivering another RBI base hit and swiping second base in the fifth. He has a hit in 10 of his last 11 games, going 14-for-43 (.326) with just five punchouts during that stretch. His steal Monday ended a 14-game drought and he's now stolen 14 bases in 17 attempts.
