INJURIES

Tagged with loss Saturday Gusto (1-4) took the loss Saturday as the Marlins fell 6-5 to the Cubs, surrendering five runs on 10 hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact Chicago had runners in scoring position in every inning against Gusto, finally getting on the board when Michael Conforto led off the top of the third inning with a solo shot. Gusto got the hook after 100 pitches (67 strikes), and while the right-hander has been able to complete five innings in only one of his last six starts, he's managed to put together a 3.29 ERA and 23:9 K:BB in 27.1 innings over that stretch, albeit with a 1.50 WHIP. He'll look to be a little more efficient in his next outing, which is scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Dodgers.

Fans four in short start Gusto took a no-decision against the Nationals on Monday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
Impact Gusto threw four shutout innings before running into trouble in the fifth, when he was chased from the outing after recording one out in the frame. The Marlins have continually shown a lack of willingness to let the right-hander work deep into starts, as Gusto has pitched into the sixth inning just twice in 14 starts. He's slated to wrap up a two-start week over the weekend against the Cubs, holding a 3.86 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 57:20 K:BB over 67.2 innings.

Blanks Red Sox in first Marlins win Gusto (1-3) earned the win against the Red Sox on Wednesday, allowing no runs on four hits and three walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out three.
Impact Gusto delivered one of his finest performances of the season Wednesday, scattering four singles across 5.2 shutout frames in his second-longest outing of the campaign. The victory was the right-hander's first as a member of the Marlins, and he's now surrendered two runs or fewer in each of his past five starts. Gusto will carry a decent 3.98 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 53:18 K:BB over 63.1 innings into his next scheduled appearance in Kansas City.

Throws four scoreless frames in no-decision Gusto did not factor into Friday's decision against the Nationals, allowing five hits and one walk while striking out two across four scoreless innings.
Impact Gusto allowed at least one baserunner in all four frames he pitched in (including two in both the first and fourth innings), but he managed to keep the Nationals off the board. It was the first time this season that he kept his opponent scoreless while completing at least four frames, and he finished Friday's outing having tossed 62 pitches (48 strikes) while generating six whiffs. Gusto figures to stay in the Marlins' rotation until Max Meyer (neck) returns from the injured list, which may not be until early September. Gusto is lined up to face the Red Sox at home next week.

Matches season high in punchouts Gusto took a no-decision against the Reds on Saturday, allowing four runs (two earned) on six hits and no walks in 4.2 innings. He struck out six.
Impact A fielding error in right field by Esteury Ruiz kept both of Cincinnati's third-inning runs off Gusto's line, but the hurler later served up a pair of solo home runs in the fifth frame. The six strikeouts did tie a season high for Gusto, but he's been taken yard at least one time in each of his past four starts. The right-hander, who has a shaky 4.70 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 49:14 K:BB over 53.2 innings, could struggle for streaming appeal in his next scheduled outing against an upstart Nationals lineup.

Goes four innings in no-decision Gusto did not factor into the decision in Sunday's 12-3 win over the Angels, allowing two runs on three hits and one walk with four strikeouts over four innings.
Impact Gusto threw 44 of 60 pitches for strikes, settling in with two scoreless innings after allowing runs in each of his first two frames. It was a short outing considering the 27-year-old logged 11 innings over his previous two turns, including an 83-pitch quality start Tuesday. He owns a 4.78 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 43:14 K across 49 innings this season and lines up for a road matchup with the Reds next weekend.

Dealt tough-luck loss Gusto (0-3) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five over six innings.
Impact Gusto's only mistake came on the first pitch of the second inning, when Ozzie Albies launched a solo homer. Miami's offense provided little support, failing to score until it was too late in the ninth inning. The six-inning effort marked his longest outing of his season. It was a bounce-back performance for the right-hander, who in his previous start against the Phillies surrendered six runs. Gusto owns a 4.80 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 39:13 K:BB across 45 innings this season and will look for his first win of 2026 in his next scheduled start Sunday against the Angels.

Draws start Tuesday Gusto is slated as the starting pitcher for Miami's matchup against Atlanta on Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact As the Marlins open a crucial series against Atlanta, Gusto will start Tuesday's affair. In the 27-year-old's last start, he allowed six runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three. On the season, the right-hander owns a 5.31 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB in 39 innings.
AUGUST 4 • ROTOWIRE
Tagged for six runs in no-decision Gusto did not factor into the decision Wednesday against the Phillies, allowing six runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings.
Impact Gusto breezed through the first two innings before Philadelphia's lineup broke through, scoring six runs over the next three frames. The fifth inning proved especially costly, with Trea Turner launching a solo homer as part of a three-run rally. The six runs marked the most Gusto has allowed in an outing this season. The right-hander exited in line for the loss, but Miami answered with six runs of their own over the next few innings to erase the deficit in the eventual victory. Across eight starts and five relief appearances, Gusto owns a 5.31 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 34:13 K:BB over 39 innings.
