Returning to action at Triple-A
Gasser (triceps) will make a start Friday for Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
Gasser's last start came on April 10, as he was slowed for a bit by left triceps soreness. The southpaw has made two appearances for Nashville this season, allowing four runs with a 15:4 K:BB over nine innings of work.

Makes second start at Triple-A
Gasser (biceps/triceps) struck out four and yielded four earned runs on seven hits and one walk across 3.1 innings Friday in his most recent start for Triple-A Nashville.
Impact
Gasser missed a turn through the Nashville rotation after experiencing muscle soreness in his left biceps and triceps following his season debut March 27, but he never required a stint on the injured list. Through his two starts, Gasser owns a 4.00 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 15:4 K:BB in nine innings. According to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com, Kyle Harrison had been in line to start Friday in the Brewers' series opener in Miami, but he's expected to be pushed back a few days in the pitching schedule while he tends to a left wrist injury. Milwaukee thus looks like it will have a need for a spot starter this weekend, and Gasser could be a candidate to fill the opening.

Nursing arm injury
Gasser hasn't made an appearance for Triple-A Nashville since March 27 while dealing with muscle soreness in his left biceps and triceps, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentine...
Impact
The injury may explain why the Brewers didn't recall Gasser and instead opted to promote Shane Drohan from Triple-A to make a spot start Wednesday against the Red Sox, after a doubleheader last week forced Milwaukee to temporarily expand its rotation to six men. Gasser hasn't been placed on Nashville's injured list and appears to be making good strides in his recovery, with Hogg noting that the southpaw is scheduled to throw a bullpen session at some point this week.

Sent to Triple-A
The Brewers optioned Gasser to Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
The left-hander struggled a bit during spring training with a 5.11 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 12.1 innings, though his 14:4 K:BB was more encouraging. Gasser returned to the big leagues for two outings late in the regular season last year after recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he won't open 2026 in the big leagues. Brandon Woodruff (lat) and Kyle Harrison (finger) aren't at full strength with Opening Day just a few days out, so it's possible Gasser could be back with the big club in short order.

Goes 2.2 frames Thursday
Gasser allowed three earned runs over 2.2 innings in Thursday's spring game against the Rockies. He gave up three hits, struck out two batters and walked three.
Impact
Gasser was not particularly sharp Thursday, but he did up the pitch count to 53 after tossing 11 pitches in his spring debut over a week ago. An elbow injury limited Gasser to just two regular-season appearances in 2025, but he finished the season healthy and has stayed so since. He is in the mix with a host of other pitchers competing for spots in Milwaukee's starting rotation.

Yields two runs in season debut
Gasser (0-1) allowed two runs on one hit and two walks over three innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against St. Louis.
Impact
Gasser threw a pair of scoreless frames before serving up a two-run shot to Ivan Herrera in the third inning. It was Gasser's first MLB appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. He posted an impressive 2.57 ERA over 28 MLB innings last season before the injury. This year, he produced a 2.37 ERA through 38 innings while rehabbing across multiple minor-league levels. It's unclear how the Brewers plan to use Gasser down the stretch or in the postseason.

Starting Sunday
Gasser is listed as the Brewers' starting pitcher for Sunday's game against the Cardinals Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gasser will make his first big-league appearance since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. The 26-year-old hasn't thrown more than 3.1 innings in an appearance during September, so it's unlikely he handles a typical starter's workload. Gasser made five big-league starts in 2024 and posted a 2.57 ERA and a 16:1 K:BB across 28 innings.

Called up, will start Sunday
The Brewers recalled Gasser from Triple-A Nashville, and he'll start Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Gasser will make his first big-league appearance Sunday since undergoing Tommy John surgery in June 2024. The 26-year-old was optioned to Nashville on Aug. 30 after being activated from the 60-day injured list, and he's mostly been working as a multi-inning reliever for the affiliate. Over 10 appearances with Nashville on the season, Gasser has covered 32 innings while compiling a 2.25 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 36:10 K:BB. The right-hander will be taking the hill Sunday on three days' rest after tossing 2.2 innings for Nashville on Wednesday, so he likely won't work deep enough into the contest to qualify for a win.

Activated, optioned to Triple-A
The Brewers reinstated Gasser (elbow) from the 60-day injured list Saturday and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville.
Impact
Gasser has spent the entire season working his way back from a Tommy John procedure he underwent last June. He's made nine starts in the minors since beginning his rehab assignment in July, posting a 3.28 ERA and 1.26 WHIP through 24.2 innings between three levels. Now fully healthy, the 26-year-old lefty will fall victim to the logjam in Milwaukee's rotation and remain in Triple-A. However, he could still return to the majors during the final month of the year to make a spot start or work out of the bullpen.
