Pirates outlast another playoff hopeful, as they spoil Reds' fun in 7-5 victory The Pirates hit four homers and still did more Friday in Cincinnati, enough to produce a 7-5 victory against the Reds.
David Bednar - Picks up 37th save Bednar picked up the save in Friday's 7-5 victory over the Reds. He allowed zero hits and two walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning.
Impact Bednar is now up to 37 saves on the year, which is tied for the NL lead and trails only Emmanuel Clase (42) on the overall MLB leaderboard. The 28-year-old right-hander has delivered a terrific 2.08 ERA with 75 strikeouts across 65 total innings of work this season for the Pirates.

Impact Hayes belted a solo shot off Reds left-hander Andrew Abbott in the top of the fourth inning before adding a single in the top of the seventh. It was the fourth straight multi-hit game for the 26-year-old third baseman, who has slashed .329/.357/.595 across 83 plate appearances in September while lifting his season OPS to .786.
