JT Brubaker - Dealing with shoulder injury Brubaker was diagnosed with right shoulder discomfort after he left Saturday's game against the Cubs, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Impact Brubaker returned from the injured list Saturday after me missed time with a thumb injury, and it's not yet clear whether his shoulder issue will force him to miss additional time. He gave up three runs in three innings prior to his departure and will presumably be monitored in the coming days.

JT Brubaker - Leaves with apparent injury Brubaker left Saturday's game against the Cubs in the fourth inning with an apparent injury, Mike Persak of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact This is a tough break for Brubaker, who was just making his return from a stint on the IL with a thumb issue. It's not clear whether this is related to the thumb or a new injury entirely. Brubaker cruised through his first three innings Saturday before allowing the first two batters to reach in the fourth and also uncorking a wild pitch.

Bryan Reynolds - On bench Saturday Reynolds is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Cubs.
Impact Cole Tucker will man center field and lead off against right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Reynolds has cooled since the break, but he established himself as one of the few long-term building blocks on the Pirates' current roster with his All-Star first half, and his OPS still sits just shy of .900 for the season. He will get the occasional day off down the stretch as the team wants to be sure he's in a good spot heading into the offseason.

Kyle Keller - Sent to Triple-A Keller was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday.
Impact Keller had been on the big-league roster since early July. He recorded a respectable 4.00 ERA in 10 appearances that month but struggled to a 9.26 ERA in 10 outings in August. The transaction clears a space for the Pirates to activate Saturday's starter JT Brubaker (thumb) from the injured list.

Ke'Bryan Hayes - Injured list decision coming soon Hayes (hand) is expected to either hit the injured list or return to the lineup by the end of the weekend, Alex Stumpf of DKPittsburghSports.com reports.
Impact Hayes hasn't played since Sunday while battling a bruised hand. He was able to swing, field and throw Saturday, so it seems possible that he'll be able to play soon, but the Pirates have little incentive to risk anything with the talented young third baseman given that they're nowhere near the playoff race.

JT Brubaker - Starting Saturday against Cubs Brubaker (thumb) will be activated from the 10-day injured list to start Saturday's game against the Cubs, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.
Impact A right thumb contusion forced Brubaker to the IL on Aug. 25. He will return to action having bypassed a rehab assignment, with the Pirates evidently seeing enough during Brubaker's Sept. 1 side session. Pittsburgh still needs to make a move to clear a roster spot for Brubaker, who sits with a 5.27 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 124:36 K:BB so far this season.
