Impact Thomson said that Suarez tossed a "touch-and-feel" bullpen session Sunday in Arizona, which followed a 36-pitch simulated game this past Thursday. Suarez looks set to ramp up the volume and intensity of his pitches Tuesday, after which the Phillies might have a better idea regarding when he might return from the 15-day injured list. Thomson suggested that Suarez won't be activated until after the Phillies' homestand that ends Sunday, so the left-hander shouldn't be expected to rejoin the rotation until at least Aug. 20 in Atlanta.

Cristopher Sánchez - Hit hard in loss Sanchez (8-8) took the loss Sunday against the Diamondbacks, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and two walks while striking out four in 4.2 innings.
Impact The Diamondbacks pushed a run across in the first before opening things up with four more runs in the third against Sanchez. He eventually exited after allowing back-to-back base hits in the fifth and both runners came around to score on a bases-clearing triple by Jake McCarthy. Sunday was Sanchez's first time going fewer than five innings since he gave up seven runs versus the Cubs on July 4, and his 12 hits allowed was a season worst. Sanchez has a 6.63 ERA over his last seven starts and is now up to 131.1 innings pitched this season, which is 32 more innings than his previous career high. Impact Hall logged 198 plate appearances at the big-league level between the 2022 and 2023 seasons, but he's played exclusively for Lehigh Valley in 2024, slashing .250/.326/.407 with 12 home runs and one stolen base in 350 plate appearances before the Phillies booted him off the 40-man roster Friday. Given that Hall is already 29 years old, is limited to first base defensively and has posted underwhelming numbers at Triple-A this season, it's not particularly surprising that he didn't draw any interest on waivers.
