Lands with Halos Colas agreed Sunday with the Angels on a minor-league contract, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Impact Once Colas passes a physical, he's expected to report to the Angels' Double-A affiliate in Rocket City. After signing with the White Sox in January 2022 as an international free agent out of Cuba, Colas quickly emerged as one of the organization's top prospects. He never delivered on his potential, however, amassing a .223/.271/.309 slash line across 301 plate appearances over 88 games in Chicago between the 2023 and 2024 seasons before he was removed from the 40-man roster in late March. The 26-year-old outfielder had continued to languish in the minors before the White Sox released him Saturday, as he turned in a .500 OPS in 29 games between Triple-A Charlotte and Double-A Birmingham this season.
MAY 26 • ROTOWIRE
Let go by South Siders The White Sox released Colas from Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Impact Colas was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte in late March after being DFA'd by the White Sox at the conclusion of spring training. The 26-year-old has struggled in Triple-A this season, slashing .116/.224/.209 with two steals, six RBI and a 34.7 percent strikeout rate over 49 plate appearances. Colas appeared in 88 regular-season games for the White Sox between 2023 and 2024, and there may be a team out there willing to take a flier on the Cuban outfielder.

MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Outrighted to Triple-A The White Sox outrighted Colas to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday.
Impact Colas is no longer on Chicago's 40-man roster but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 26-year-old has hit only .223/.271/.309 in 88 games at the big-league level.
MARCH 28 • ROTOWIRE
Booted from 40-man roster The White Sox designated Colas for assignment Wednesday, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.
Impact Colas got a big signing bonus from the White Sox in January of 2022 after defecting from Cuba and had a nice first season in the minors, but things have trended poorly since then. The 26-year-old has hit only .223/.271/.309 in 88 games at the major-league level and will likely pass through waivers unclaimed.
MARCH 26 • ROTOWIRE
Starting season in Charlotte Colas didn't make the White Sox's Opening Day roster and will be optioned to Triple-A Charlotte, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Impact Colas missed nearly two weeks of action due to a sprained right wrist he suffered March 6, but he returned to go 0-for-1 with a walk in Wednesday's contest. He'll finish Cactus League play 4-for-16 with an RBI and two runs scored and will now return to Charlotte for the start of the new campaign.
MARCH 20 • ROTOWIRE
Day-to-day with sprained wrist Colas exited Thursday's Cactus League game against the Giants due to a sprained right wrist.
Impact The fact that the White Sox have labeled Colas day-to-day suggests that his injury isn't too severe, though he may still need to sit out for a few exhibition games. The 26-year-old has done well in the race for a roster spot thus far, going 4-for-15 with an RBI and two runs scored over nine spring contests.
MARCH 6 • ROTOWIRE
Confident Oscar Colas has tall task winning job in crowded White Sox outfield “I think that this is going to be my best season yet," Colas said.
FEBRUARY 25 • SUNTIMES.COM
Could get look at first base The White Sox are considering moving Colas to first base this upcoming season, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.
Impact As Romero noted, a move from the outfield to first base could improve Colas' odds of making Chicago's Opening Day roster. Colas saw just 13 games of big-league action last season. He slashed .273/.368/.273 with just four RBI and zero extra-base hits across 38 plate appearances. The White Sox have a plethora of capable outfielders, including Andrew Benintendi, Luis Robert, Mike Tauchman, Austin Slater, Miguel Vargas and Dominic Fletcher. Colas would give Chicago a left-handed option to pair with Andrew Vaughn at first base.
FEBRUARY 7 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A The White Sox optioned Colas to Triple-A Charlotte on Sunday.
Impact The move corresponds with Eloy Jimenez (hamstring) being reinstated off the injured list Sunday. Colas joined the big club June 1 due to injuries across the roster, but he saw his playing time decrease over time. In 12 appearances since his call-up, Colas went 9-for-32 with four RBI and a .660 OPS over 32 at-bats. He should settle back into an everyday role in the minors, where he is slashing .244/.358/.406 with five home runs and 21 RBI over 193 plate appearances in Triple-A.
JUNE 23, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Demoted to Triple-A again Colas was optioned to Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
Impact It's the second time this season that Colas has been sent down, as he was also optioned back in early May following a slow start. Colas slashed just .219/.253/.331 in 50 games after being recalled in early July and overall is hitting only .216/.257/.314 in his rookie campaign. Gavin Sheets and Trayce Thompson should handle right field with Colas back in the minors.
SEPTEMBER 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Heads to bench Colas will sit Saturday against the Tigers.
Impact The White Sox's 55-86 record means they have little reason not to give purported pieces of the future like Colas as many at-bats as they can handle down the stretch. The rookie right fielder made 11 consecutive starts prior to Saturday's off day, but his .175/.214/.350 slash line over that stretch has hardly been promising. Trayce Thompson will take a turn in right field in his absence.
SEPTEMBER 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Blasts homer in win Colas went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-4 win over the Royals.
Impact Colas has just five homers this year, two of which have come in his last seven games. In that span, he's gone 5-for-25 (.200) with six strikeouts and one walk. The 24-year-old outfielder is slashing a meager .218/.260/.315 with 19 RBI, 31 runs scored and four stolen bases over his first 73 major-league games.
SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Smacks fourth homer Colas went 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored Wednesday against the Orioles.
Impact Colas has started 21 of 26 games for the White Sox in August, despite his performance being uneven. He did manage three homers and 15 runs scored in that span. On the other hand, he's carried a 27.4 percent strikeout rate and hit just .231. Given that the White Sox aren't playing for positioning in the standings. Colas should continue to get regular run in the final month of the season, and he could emerge as a potential source of power.
AUGUST 31, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Out of lineup Colas will be on the bench Saturday against the Athletics.
Impact Colas sits for the second time in three days, with the Athletics again turning to a left-hander in JP Sears. Trayce Thompson will get the start in right field.
AUGUST 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting versus lefty Colas isn't in the White Sox's lineup Thursday against Oakland.
Impact Left-hander Ken Waldichuk will start on the hill for the Athletics, so the lefty-hitting Colas will retreat to the dugout to begin Thursday's game. Trayce Thompson will fill in as Chicago's right fielder and bat eighth.
AUGUST 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
On bench against RHP again Colas is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rockies.
Impact The lefty-hitting Colas will take a seat for the second time in the series, with both of his absences coming against right-handed starting pitchers (Peter Lambert and Chris Flexen). Since being called up from Triple-A Charlotte on July 4, Colas hasn't fared much better in the big leagues than he did earlier in the season, when he secured a spot on the Opening Day roster coming out of spring training. He's slashing .215/.248/.299 with two home runs and two stolen bases in 32 games and is striking out at a 30.7 percent clip over his 32 games since rejoining the White Sox.
AUGUST 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
On bench Friday Colas is not in the lineup Friday against the Rockies.
Impact Trayce Thompson will start in right field and bat eighth for the White Sox as they open a three-game series at Coors Field. Colas, 24, has slashed just .212/.255/.285 with three homers and four steals across his first 56 major-league games this year.
AUGUST 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Homers in return Colas went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and an additional run scored Wednesday in a 9-2 win against the Yankees.
Impact Colas missed a couple game due to leg soreness, but he looked strong in his return Wednesday. The rookie outfielder added to Luis Severino's season-long struggles with a two-run shot off the veteran hurler in the second inning. The long ball gave Colas a modest five-game hitting streak, during which he is slashing .316/.350/.632 with two homers, three RBI and six runs scored.
AUGUST 10, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns from sore leg Colas (leg) is back in the lineup Wednesday versus the Yankees.
Impact Colas missed the first two games of the three-game set due to leg soreness, per Scott Merkin of MLB.com, but he's ready to rock for the White Sox in Wednesday night's series finale. The 24-year-old will start in right field and bat eighth.
AUGUST 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Out of Monday's lineup Colas is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees, according to Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com.
Impact Colas will get a day off after starting 14 straight games for the White Sox. Gavin Sheets will get the start in right field in place of Colas.

Picks up fourth steal Colas went 1-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 10-7 loss to the Cubs.
Impact Colas has logged two of his four steals this season over his last three games. The outfielder is still struggling for consistency at the plate -- he's batting .220 (11-for-50) over 15 contests since his recall to the majors July 4, failing to carry over his strong hitting from Triple-A Charlotte. Despite the struggles, he's seeing the bulk of the playing time in right field. Colas has a .214/.246/.270 slash line with one home run, nine RBI and 14 runs scored over 40 major-league games.
JULY 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Three-hit day Sunday Colas went 3-for-5 with a run and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Twins.
Impact Colas notched the first three-hit game of his MLB career and stole his first bag since April 8. The 24-year-old is still trying to settle in at the major league level, as he's slashing .233/.227/.279 with two extra-base hits, two RBI, five runs and a 0:16 BB:K 43 plate appearances since being recalled July 4. Colas does not own an everyday role right now but that could change with the White Sox expected to be sellers at the trade deadline.
JULY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sitting Friday Colas is not in the starting lineup Friday against Minnesota.
Impact Colas will take a seat after he went 0-for-9 with an RBI and three strikeouts over the team's three-game series with the Mets. Zach Remillard will start in right field and bat eighth in the series opener with the Twins.
