Elvis Andrus - Delivers lone run in loss Andrus went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and a walk in Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners.
Impact Andrus generated the Athletics' lone run against Robbie Ray with a seventh-inning solo shot. The Oakland offense fared no better against relievers Andres Munoz and Paul Sewald in the low-scoring loss. This was Andrus' sixth straight game with a hit and his second homer in the last three. The veteran shortstop is up to five long balls, 18 RBI, 28 runs scored and four stolen bases while slashing .232/.297/.366 in 74 contests this year.

Austin Pruitt - Steps up for long relief Pruitt allowed a run on two hits and struck out six over 4.1 innings during Sunday's 2-1 loss to the Mariners.
Impact Pruitt took over in the second inning after Frankie Montas (shoulder) exited the game early. This was Pruitt's longest outing of the season, and his third of three or more innings in 12 appearances overall. The right-hander has a 4.42 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 13:1 K:BB through 18.1 innings. It seems unlikely for the 32-year-old to be an option as a spot starter if Montas has to miss time -- Pruitt saw some starts in the minors in 2021 but hasn't regularly worked in that role since 2016.

Julio RodrĂguez - Powers offense in Sunday's win Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and an RBI double in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Athletics.
Impact Rodriguez got things going quickly, taking the first pitch from Frankie Montas and putting it over the left field fence. In the sixth, Rodriguez added some necessary insurance with an RBI double, though he was caught stealing for the second out of the frame. The rookie outfielder has six homers in his last 13 games, a span in which he's hit .340 (16-for-47). He's up to a .277/.337/.483 slash line with 14 long balls, 41 RBI, 45 runs scored and 20 steals in 24 attempts through 80 contests.

Frankie Montas - Day-to-day with shoulder tightness Montas exited Sunday's game against the Mariners due to tightness in the back of his shoulder, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Montas was removed from Sunday's matchup after just one inning, and manager Mark Kotsay said after the game that the right-hander had trouble getting extended. The 29-year-old has been initially diagnosed with inflammation, but he's considered day-to-day for now. If Montas is cleared to make his next turn through the rotation, he tentatively lines up to start at home against the Astros on Saturday.

Paul Sewald - Perfect inning for ninth save Sewald struck out one in a perfect inning to secure the save in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Athletics.
Impact Sewald had no trouble protecting a one-run lead, retiring Vimael Machin, Sean Murphy and Stephen Vogt on a combined 13 pitches. This was Sewald's fifth straight appearance with a save, which has pushed him to the head of the Mariners' closer committee. He's allowed four runs in 13 innings since the start of June and owns a 2.73 ERA, 0.71 WHIP and 32:7 K:BB across 29.2 innings while adding nine save, four holds and two blown saves this season.

Robbie Ray - Strikes out 12 in win Ray (7-6) allowed a run on four hits and two walks while striking out 12 in 6.2 innings to earn the win Sunday over the Athletics.
Impact Ray ran his streak of dominance up to five starts -- he's given up three runs across his last 33.2 innings, though he's been unlucky to earn only two wins in that span. The southpaw also gave up his first home run in that stretch when Elvis Andrus took him deep in the seventh inning. Sunday's start was also Ray's fourth of the year with double-digit strikeouts. He has a 3.62 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 117:36 K:BB through 104.1 innings. The 30-year-old is lined up for a home start against his former team, the Blue Jays, next weekend.
