Sam Selman - Optioned off roster Selman was optioned to Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.

Impact Selman has made 12 relief appearances for the Athletics this season, posting a forgettable 4.30 ERA. His 16:4 K:BB suggests things could be better for him going forward, but he won't get the chance to prove that at the big-league level for a stretch. Zach Logue was called up to take his place on the roster.

Jake Meyers - Sits again Saturday Meyers will not start Saturday's game against Oakland, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.

Impact Meyers had been serving as the Astros' primary center fielder, but he's now been on the bench for two consecutive games and for three of the last four contests. His .218/.260/.328 slash line in 37 games this season doesn't make a very good case that he should be an everyday regular for a team with World Series aspirations. Chas McCormick will be the center fielder Saturday.

Impact Brantley's move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural since the outfielder recently underwent a season-ending arthroscopic labral repair on his right shoulder. Whether he'll be able to return to the field in time for spring training in 2023 isn't yet clear.

Impact Bride has made plenty of contact through his first 90 MLB plate appearances, striking out just 15.6 percent of the time, but he's struggled to hit the ball with much authority. A 1.4 percent barrel rate has led to zero home runs and just three extra-base hits, and he's slashing just .229/.289/.265. Nick Allen will start at second base Saturday.
