Tosses another quality start
Pivetta allowed one run on four hits and three walks while striking out seven across six innings in a no-decision against Atlanta on Friday.
Impact
Pivetta immediately put the Padres on the back foot after yielding a home run to the returning Ronald Acuna on the first pitch of the first inning. Pivetta was able to get out of the first despite allowing two more baserunners, and the veteran right hander kept Atlanta off the board for the rest of his outing, finishing with nine whiffs over 102 pitches (61 strikes). It was his second straight quality start and sixth of the season, and his 2.72 ERA and 1.01 WHIP (over 56.1 innings) rank ninth and fifth, respectively, among qualified starters in the National League. Pivetta is slated to take on the Marlins at home next week.

Bounces back with quality start
Pivetta allowed a run on two hits and a walk while striking out seven over six innings in a no-decision versus the Mariners on Saturday.
Impact
Pivetta limited the damage to a Rowdy Tellez solo home run in the fifth inning. The Padres' bullpen couldn't do the same in the 4-1 loss, but Pivetta won't have to wear the loss, as he exited with the game tied at 1-1. This was a good bounce back for the 32-year-old, who gave up a season-high six runs in a loss to the Rockies in his previous start. This was his fifth quality start of the season but his first since April 22 versus the Tigers. Pivetta has a 2.86 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 56:15 K:BB across 50.1 innings over nine starts. His next start is projected to be on the road versus Atlanta.

Roughed up for six runs
Pivetta (5-2) took the loss Sunday against the Rockies, allowing six runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out five in four innings.
Impact
Pivetta surrendered a home run for a third consecutive start after giving up a first inning three-run blast to Hunter Goodman. The damage continued in the third with Goodman supplying a two-run triple and then eventually coming in to score. Pivetta went fewer than five innings for just the second time this year. He had given up just six earned runs in his last five starts combined including a seven-inning shutout against the Rockies on April 11. Pivetta's ERA raised over a full point to 3.05 and he'll look to rebound in a home start versus the Mariners over the weekend.

Impact
Pivetta wasn't very effective Monday, needing 91 pitches (57 strikes) to complete five frames. Most of the damage against him came on Trent Grisham's two-run shot in the third inning. It was Pivetta's first time walking more than three batters in a start this season and he now owns a 44:12 K:BB with a stellar 2.01 ERA through seven outings. After three straight quality starts, he's failed to complete six innings in back-to-back appearances. Pivetta's next start is projected to be in Colorado this weekend.

Fans nine in fifth win
Pivetta (5-1) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up three runs on five hits and a walk over 5.1 innings in a 7-4 victory over the Giants. He struck out nine.
Impact
The right-hander continues to shine to begin his tenure with the Padres. Pivetta has yet to allow more than three runs in a start, and his new home stadium has been a perfect fit for the typically homer-prone veteran -- Willy Adames' solo shot in the fourth inning Tuesday was the first long ball Pivetta had served up in four trips to the mound at Petco Park, and just his second of the season. Pivetta will take a 1.78 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 39:8 K:BB through 35.1 innings into his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in Pittsburgh.
