Throws 50 pitches Friday Lodolo (blister) threw 50 pitches over three simulated innings of live batting practice Friday, MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo, who is returning from a recurring blister, felt good about the new grip he's using on his breaking ball. The left-hander may need a rehab start before returning to the Reds' rotation; however, the club hasn't confirmed plans.

Facing hitters Friday Lodolo (finger) is scheduled to throw live batting practice Friday, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lodolo is expected to throw roughly two or three innings during Friday's session, marking his first time facing live hitters since landing on the injured list July 12 with a finger blister. Lodolo has been experimenting with a new grip for his breaking ball in an effort to minimize the risk of future blister issues, and he hasn't had any issues up to this point. He could require a rehab start in the minors before rejoining Cincinnati's rotation, though the Reds haven't confirmed any plans beyond Friday just yet.

Completes another side session Lodolo (finger) threw a bullpen session Sunday, MLB.com reports.
Impact Lodolo, who is on the mend from a blister on his left index finger, has now completed two side sessions since landing on the injured list July 12. In an effort to combat further recurrences of blisters, Lodolo has been testing out a new grip for his breaking pitches, and he's thus far experienced no issues since he resumed throwing. Lodolo will likely need to face hitters and potentially make a rehab start before returning from the IL.

Trying bullpen session Wednesday Lodolo (blister) will attempt throwing a bullpen Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact As Lodolo tries to throw Wednesday, he and the Reds will see how he is feeling and judge from there. The southpaw has a the blister resurface July 11, which led to his removal from the game. He's been throwing a Plyo ball after getting his blister drained prior to the weekend.

Shelved with another blister issue The Reds placed Lodolo (finger) on the 15-day injured list Sunday.
Impact Lodolo developed a blister on his left index finger during his start in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Cubs and will hit the shelf for the second time in 2026. The southpaw had previously opened the season on the IL due to the same issue, missing six weeks before debuting May 8. He'll be eligible for activation July 27, but given the extended time off he required the first time around, Lodolo is far from a safe bet to return in the minimum amount of time.
JULY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Likely bound for IL Lodolo (finger) will likely require a stint on the injured list, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lodolo was pulled in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Cubs due to a blister on his left finger. The hurler said the blister became an issue during that sixth frame, and manager Terry Francona suggested that the injury will likely result in a stay on the injured list. Should that indeed be the case, Lodolo would need to miss at least his next two scheduled starts.

Exits game with blister Lodolo was removed in the sixth inning of Saturday's game against the Cubs due to a blister on his left finger, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact A trainer came out to the mound to examine Lodolo's left index finger after the southpaw gave up a leadoff homer in the sixth inning. The blister was severe enough for Lodolo to be taken out of the game, and he'll end his start having allowed two runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four across five innings. He's dealt with blisters over the past couple of seasons and needed a stint on the 15-day injured list in 2025, but his recovery timeline should become more clear once he undergoes more tests.

Impact Lodolo was solid Sunday, as he held Baltimore scoreless through five innings before ultimately allowing a lone run on Coby Mayo's two-out single in the sixth. The win is Lodolo's first since May 31 -- that was also the last time he went at least six innings in a start. While his workload had been limited of late, Lodolo's now allowed just one run across 15 innings in his last three outings. The southpaw's lowered his ERA to 4.68 across 11 starts (57.2 innings) this season with a 1.46 WHIP and 46:24 K:BB. Lodolo is tentatively in line to face the Cubs at home his next time out.
