INJURIES

Wild in loss Lodolo (3-4) allowed three runs on five hits, three walks and two hit batsmen while striking out six over 4.2 innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Dodgers.
Impact Lodolo wasn't able to dial in Tuesday, throwing just 54 of 97 pitches for strikes. In six starts since he returned from a finger injury, he's allowed 19 runs over 27 innings with a 25:11 K:BB and five hit batsmen. Plunkings have been a problem for Lodolo -- he's tied for fourth in the majors with 14 hit batsmen despite tossing the second-fewest innings among the top-10 pitchers in that area. Overall, Lodolo has struggled to a 5.12 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 75:38 K:BB through 89.2 innings this season. His next start is projected to be a rematch at home versus the Dodgers early next week.

Delivers quality start Tuesday Lodolo didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks over six innings in a 4-3 victory over the Padres. He struck out five.
Impact It was Lodolo's first quality start since July 5, and his best performance since returning from the IL in mid-August with a new grip on his breaking ball to try and avoid further blisters. Over five starts since being activated, the southpaw has stumbled to a 6.45 ERA, 1.66 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB in 22.1 innings. Lodolo will try to build on Tuesday's effort in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the Dodgers.

Hit hard in no-decision Wednesday Lodolo didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 10-9 win over the Giants, giving up four runs on six hits and two walks over four-plus innings. He struck out five.
Impact Half of the hits off Lodolo went for extra bases, including two-run blasts by Jonah Cox in the second inning and Rafael Devers in the fifth. Lodolo has struggled to keep the ball in the yard since coming off the IL earlier this month and attempting to employ a new grip on his curveball to avoid blisters, and over his last four starts he's served up six homers in 16.1 innings en route to a 7.72 ERA, 1.84 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB. The southpaw will be a risky fantasy option in his next trip to the mound, which is set to come at home early next week against the Padres.

Surrenders six runs in loss Lodolo (3-3) allowed six runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings to take the loss versus the Diamondbacks on Friday.
Impact In addition to the 12 baserunners allowed, the battery of Lodolo and Jose Trevino surrendered four stolen bases to add some fuel to Arizona's early offense. Over three starts since returning from a finger issue, Lodolo has given up 10 runs over 12.1 innings. He's had trouble getting into a rhythm at all this year, posting a 5.04 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 59:31 K:BB through 75 innings over 15 starts. Lodolo is projected to make his next start at San Francisco.

Delivers five scoreless innings Lodolo did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Marlins, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out two over five scoreless innings.
Impact Lodolo matched up well with Eury Perez Sunday, who delivered six scoreless frames of his own for Miami, but Cincinnati's bullpen was shelled in the late innings to spoil his effort. The left-hander tossed just 73 pitches in his second start since returning from the injured list. It was a major upgrade from his return start, where he served up three home runs against the White Sox. Lodolo owns a 4.52 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 57:29 K:BB across 71.2 innings this season. He's tentatively scheduled to make his next start Friday against Arizona.

Allows three homers in return Lodolo did not factor into the decision in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-inning win over the White Sox, allowing four runs on five hits and no walks with five strikeouts over four innings.
Impact Lodolo allowed solo homers in the first, second and fourth innings, departing with a four-run deficit in his first start since July 11. On the bright side, he threw a solid 46 of 70 pitches for strikes and generated 13 whiffs, including eight on his signature curveball. The 28-year-old will take a 4.86 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 55:27 K across 66.2 innings this season into a home matchup with Miami this weekend.

Activated from IL, starting Tuesday Cincinnati reinstated Lodolo (finger) from the 15-day injured list, and will start Tuesday's matchup against the White Sox.
Impact Lodolo will return from the IL after being sidelined for just under a month of action. The southpaw needed just one rehab start with Triple-A Louisville, recording 4.1 innings of work, before rejoining the big-league club. On the season, the 28-year-old owns a 3-2 record, 4.60 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 50:27 K:BB through 62.2 innings. The Reds optioned Zach McCambley to Louisville before Tuesday's affair in Chicago.

Rejoining Reds' rotation Tuesday Reds manager Terry Francona said Thursday that Lodolo (blister) will rejoin the rotation Tuesday with a start against the White Sox, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati repo...
Impact It will be Lodolo's first outing in the majors since he landed on the 15-day injured list just before the All-Star break with a recurring blister issue on his left index finger. Since that IL move, Lodolo has been using a modified grip for his curveball as he aims to put his blister problems behind him. In his lone rehab start, the southpaw allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings for Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. He threw 65 pitches in the outing, so Lodolo won't be fully stretched out when he faces the Pale Hose.
AUGUST 6 • ROTOWIRE
Logs 4.1 innings in rehab start Lodolo (blister) allowed three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four over 4.1 innings for Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Impact Lodolo threw 65 pitches (37 strikes), which was right around the projected range for the left-hander. Depending on how feels following the outing, he could return to the big leagues, per Mark Sheldon of MLB.com. Reds manager Terry Francona said Lodolo "looked OK" and was hitting 94 to 95 mph. What many observers were interested in was his curveball, which has been the source of recurring blisters throughout Lodolo's career. He tested a modified grip successfully last week and threw 15 curves Wednesday for seven strikes, two swings and one whiff.

Rehab start set Lodolo (finger) is scheduled to throw 60-to-65 pitches during a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Impact The left-hander threw 50 pitches during live batting practice Friday and will now shift his rehab to a game setting. Lodolo is utilizing a new grip on his breaking ball in an attempt to prevent the recurring blister issues on his left index finger. It's possible he only needs one start in the minors before coming off the injured list, which would allow him to re-enter Cincinnati's rotation as early as Aug. 11 against the White Sox.
