Back in action
Betts (back) will return to the lineup Tuesday against Colorado, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
Impact
Betts' back stiffness never appeared to be a particularly serious issue, though it kept him out of the lineup for four straight games. He said Tuesday that the problem bothered him more while running than while swinging, so he should be set to build on his 1.029 OPS from his first five games in his return to action.

Won't play Sunday
Manager Dave Roberts said Betts (back) won't play in Sunday's series finale against the Nationals, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
The 28-year-old isn't headed to the injured list, as Roberts indicated the team hopes he'll be able to rejoin the lineup Tuesday after Monday's scheduled off day. Sunday will mark the fourth consecutive absence for Betts while he continues to deal with back stiffness. Edwin Rios and Zach McKinstry will man the corner outfield spots for the Dodgers in the series finale.

Still out Friday
Betts (back) is out of Friday's lineup against the Nationals and is considered day-to-day, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Impact
The 28-year-old was previously expected to be in the lineup Friday after being withheld from Wednesday's lineup with back stiffness, and he needs more time to recover coming off Thursday's scheduled off day. Zach McKinstry will start in right field for the Dodgers in his absence.

Managing stiff back

Impact
The injury appears to be a day-to-day concern for Betts, who may just be receiving some preventative maintenance while the Dodgers wrap up their series in Oakland with a day game after a night game. Betts should benefit from a team off day Thursday before the Dodgers check back in on his condition ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Nationals in Los Angeles. Zach McKinstry will spell Betts in right field Wednesday.

First day off of 2021
Betts is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Impact
Though the Dodgers have the designated-hitter spot available in Oakland and are missing one of their big bats in Cody Bellinger (calf), manager Dave Roberts won't be determined from giving Betts what's presumably a pre-planned maintenance day. Zach McKinstry will man right field in place of Betts, who should return to the lineup for Friday's series opener versus Washington after a team off day Thursday.

Clubs first homer
Betts went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two stolen bases in Tuesday's 5-1 win over Oakland.
Impact
Betts provided a nice stat line for fantasy managers who roster him, notching his first two steals and his first homer of the campaign in the victory. The veteran outfielder has enjoyed a quietly successful start to the season, slashing .348/.464/.565 and collecting at least one hit in each of his five games thus far.

Gets early day off
Betts will sit for the first time this season Saturday against the Rockies, J.P. Hoornstra of the Los Angeles Daily News reports.
Impact
Betts probably won't sit too often this season, but the Dodgers have enough depth that they can afford to give him more rest than he might receive on most other teams. He'll head to the bench in just the third game of the season, with Chris Taylor starting in right field.
