Royce Lewis - Starts rehab assignment Tuesday Lewis (oblique) will start a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A St. Paul, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Lewis has been sidelined since July 1 with the left oblique strain. He will probably get evaluated after each game and it could be a matter of days before he is joining the big club. With Edouard Julien, Jorge Polanco and Carlos Correa playing pretty regularly on the infield, it's possible Lewis will return to a utility role, but the fact that the Twins don't have an everyday designated hitter could allow him to still see plenty of action.

Willi Castro - Gets fifth consecutive start Castro will start at third base and bat seventh in Monday's game against the Tigers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Though Michael Taylor appears to have wrested the everyday center field role away from Castro, the latter's defensive versatility will allow him to stick in the lineup for the fifth game in a row. Castro has now picked up three starts at third base and two in left field over those five games, contributing two stolen bases during that stretch to bring his total up to a team-high 28 for the season. The 26-year-old looks like he'll remain a mainstay in the lineup versus left-handed pitching, and he should be able to work his way into the starting nine at least semi-regularly versus right-handed pitching, too.

Matt Wallner - Sits in series opener Wallner is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Tigers, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Wallner will be joined on the bench by fellow left-handed hitters Joey Gallo and Edouard Julien as the Tigers bring southpaw Joey Wentz to the hill for the series opener. Jordan Luplow will pick up the start in left field in place of Wallner, who appears on track to hold down a strong-side platoon role at least until the Twins get Alex Kirilloff (shoulder) back from the injured list.

Brock Stewart - Building back up for side session Stewart (elbow) played catch from 60-to-75 feet Saturday and is slowly working to a bullpen progression, MLB.com reports.
Impact Stewart experienced a setback with his elbow following a bullpen session July 29 and was transferred to the 60-day injured list Friday. On a more fortunate note, Stewart hasn't been shut down from throwing entirely following his setback, though the Twins plan on bringing him along more slowly this time around. Twins bench coach Jayce Tingler said Friday that Stewart could be activated in four weeks if all goes well during the rehab process, meaning the right-hander likely won't be back with the big club until around early or mid-September.

Alex Kirilloff - Gets cortisone shot in shoulder Kirilloff was recently given a cortisone shot in his ailing right shoulder, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact He will rest for a few days in order to let the shot take effect before then ramping back up his baseball activities. Kirilloff is a week removed from landing on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder issue which had been bothering him for about a week. He is eligible for activation Wednesday but clearly is going to need more time than that.

Edouard Julien - Draws three walks Julien went 1-for-1 with three walks, a stolen base and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Julien batted out of the leadoff spot for a second straight game and looked very comfortable. In those two games, he went 4-for-6 with three walks and just one strikeout. Julien has been a welcomed addition to the Twins' lineup after he was up and down with the big club earlier in the season. Since being called back up June 10, the 24-year-old is slashing .330/.433/.540 with six homers, 10 RBI, 26 runs and a 22:46 BB:K over 161 plate appearances.

Matt Wallner - Provides game winning hit Wallner went 1-for-4 with a walk-off two-run homer to beat the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Impact Wallner delivered his first-career walk-off hit with a two-run blast off Paul Sewald to complete the series sweep for the Twins. Wallner has six homers and 12 RBI over his last 11 games. The 25-year-old has a .305 ISO in 97 plate appearances this season which would be ranked third in all of baseball if he had enough plate appearances to qualify. Wallner is locked into an everyday role after the recent injury news to Byron Buxton and would seem to have a leg up on the struggling Joey Gallo even when Buxton returns.

Dallas Keuchel - Gives up just one run Keuchel allowed one run on eight hits and two walks and did not strike out a batter in five innings of work Sunday against the Diamondbacks. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact The eight hits were a lot, but Keuchel managed to give up just one extra-base knock which was a Carson Kelly double to lead off the fifth. The Diamondbacks would end up scoring that inning before Keuchel's day was over after 74 pitches. The 34-year-old doesn't miss many bats but his ability to induce weak contact should keep him around so long as Joe Ryan (groin) is out. Keuchel tentatively lines up to face the Phillies on the road in his next start.
