Tigers bring 2-1 series advantage over Twins into game 4

Bailey Ober - Strikes out nine in loss Ober (6-6) took the loss Wednesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on 11 hits and a walk over five innings in a 9-5 loss to the Tigers. He struck out nine.
Impact Ober tallied a season high in strikeouts, though he surrendered 11 hits for the second time in his last three starts as he fell to the Tigers. The 28-year-old Ober is now 1-2 with a 5.88 ERA over his previous five starts. Overall, his ERA is up to 3.40 with a 1.11 WHIP and 107:19 K:BB across 19 starts (108.2 innings) this season. Ober will look to get back on track in his next outing, currently scheduled as a home rematch with Detroit early next week.

Donovan Solano - Avoids significant injury Solano was diagnosed with a mild MCL sprain in his right knee after undergoing an MRI on Wednesday, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Solano is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in Detroit, but with the MRI on his knee coming back clean, the Twins are optimistic that he'll avoid a long-term absence. The Twins haven't ruled out Solano requiring a trip to the injured list, however, but manager Rocco Baldelli said that the veteran utility man is considered day-to-day for the time being while he waits for the swelling in his ankle to subside, according to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Impact The Twins are still waiting on the results of Solano's MRI, so until the team learns more about the severity of his injury, he'll be considered day-to-day. Solano, who made his third straight start at first base in Tuesday's 6-0 loss, went 1-for-2 at the dish before departing from the game when he injured the ankle while running the bases in the third inning. Joey Gallo came off the bench to pinch run for Solano and will draw the start at first base Wednesday.

Impact Vazquez and Ryan Jeffers continue to alternate starts behind the dish, and it'll be the latter's turn to catch Wednesday. Sonny Gray - Strikes out 10 in loss Gray (5-5) took the loss Tuesday, allowing three runs (two earned) on seven hits over six innings against the Tigers. He struck out 10.
Impact Gray was excellent Tuesday, recording double-digit strikeouts for the first time since April 7 while surrendering just a pair of earned runs in the fourth inning. However, in what's become a theme for Gray this year, the Twins failed to generate any run support, sticking the veteran right-hander with the loss. Gray's now delivered four straight quality starts, lowering his ERA to 3.18 with a 1.24 WHIP and 133:44 K:BB across 23 starts (130.1 innings) this season. He's currently slated for a road matchup with the Phillies this weekend in his next outing.
