Twins-Pirates MLB 2023 live stream (8/18): How to watch online, TV info, time 2023 baseball season heading into stretch run
AUGUST 18, 2023 • AL.COM
Ryan Jeffers - Scratched with sore back Jeffers was scratched from the lineup Friday against the Pirates due to back soreness, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
Impact Christian Vazquez will instead start at catcher and bat eighth for the Twins as they open a three-game weekend series versus Pittsburgh. Jeffers boasts a .328/.430/.597 batting line in 20 games (80 plate appearances) since the All-Star break and should be considered day-to-day.
AUGUST 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Joey Gallo - Absent from lineup Gallo is not in the lineup for Friday's contest against the Pirates.
Impact Gallo had been in the lineup for six of the last seven games, but he'll start this one on the bench. Donovan Solano will be at first base.
AUGUST 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Carlos Correa - Returns to lineup Friday Correa (foot) is playing shortstop and batting cleanup Friday versus the Pirates in his return to the lineup.
Impact Correa didn't play in Wednesday's win over the Tigers due to what the Twins simply referred to as soreness, but it's reasonable to assume it was foot-related since he's been playing through plantar fasciitis for a while. He's feeling well enough to give it a go Friday after Thursday's off day, though, as he and his Minnesota teammates take on Andre Jackson and the Pirates.
AUGUST 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Joe Ryan - Cleared for rehab assignment Ryan (groin) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Darren Wolfson of Channel 5 Saint Paul reports.
Impact Ryan tossed a bullpen session Tuesday and came out of it with no concerns, clearing the way for his return to game action. It's not clear how many rehab starts he will need before being activated, but since he's only been out for just over two weeks it's possible he'll just require one. If that's the case, he could conceivably rejoin the Twins' rotation next week in Milwaukee or back at home versus the Rangers.

AUGUST 17, 2023 • STARTRIBUNE.COM
Jorge Polanco - Homers, drives in three Polanco went 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's loss to the Tigers.
Impact Polanco gave the Twins a 4-0 lead with his sacrifice fly in the second inning and later added a two-run shot in the bottom of the ninth to bring the Twins back within two runs of Detroit. The second baseman has now hit safely in four of his last five games, driving in six runs over that stretch to go along with three walks and three runs scored.
AUGUST 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Kenta Maeda - Allows two homers in no-decision Maeda did not factor into the decision Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over four innings against the Tigers. He struck out six.
Impact Maeda struck out four batters over the first two innings and appeared to be on track for his third quality start in a row. However, the right-hander ran into trouble in the top of the third after allowing a leadoff single to Akil Baddoo, which would be followed by home runs from Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson in two of the next three at-bats. Maeda had gone at least five innings in each of his previous five starts coming in while the seven hits Wednesday were the most he's allowed since April 26. Despite the poor outing, he still holds a 2.81 ERA to go along with a very healthy 17:2 K:BB through three starts this month.

AUGUST 16, 2023 • THEATHLETIC.COM
Nick Gordon - Set to begin running Gordon (lower leg) will begin "ground-based running" this week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact Gordon is still aiming to return this season, but he's still likely several weeks away from a rehab assignment. He's returning from a right tibia fracture suffered on May 17.
AUGUST 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Chris Paddack - Faces live hitters Paddack (elbow) is facing live hitters at the team's Fort Myers, Fla. complex this week, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.
Impact He still doesn't have clearance to appear in a game, however. The Twins haven't ruled him out for returning this season, but the odds seem long given that he'll need several weeks of a rehab assignment. At least if he can appear in some minor league or instructional league games, he'll get a head start on returning next season.
AUGUST 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Jose Miranda - Starts hitting of tee Miranda (shoulder) has started hitting off a tee and throwing at about 50 percent from 60 feet, The Athletic reports.
Impact Miranda received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his injured right shoulder in mid-July. He's finally showing some signs of improvement and said he hopes to begin a rehab assignment in three weeks. He could return in late September if all goes well, though the Twins may not need him on the active roster.
