Aaron Ashby - Hit hard in return Ashby (1-6) took the loss during Saturday's 7-4 defeat at the hands of the Pirates, allowing four runs on five hits and one walk with six strikeouts in 3.2 innings.
Impact Making his return from a two-week stint on the IL due to a forearm injury, Ashby navigated the first two frames unscathed but encountered trouble in the third when he surrendered three runs and was chased by an Oneil Cruz home run the following inning. Despite the abbreviated start, the 24-year-old still struck out six batters and recorded an impressive eight swinging strikes on only 62 pitches. Ashby carries a mediocre 4.60 ERA into a rematch with Pittsburgh slated for next weekend.

David Bednar - Gets back on track Bednar saved Saturday's 7-4 win against the Brewers, recording one walk and one strikeout in a scoreless ninth inning.
Impact Bednar appeared to have the night off, but Milwaukee scored twice in the eighth inning to necessitate his services. After struggling in his most recent appearance Thursday, the 27-year-old issued a four-pitch walk to Christian Yelich to lead off the ninth. He then retired the next three Brewers in order to register his first save since June 15. Despite surrendering six runs over his prior 4.1 innings, Bednar still possess a quality 2.43 ERA and even 1.00 WHIP with 50 strikeouts through 37 innings.

Zach Thompson - Starting Sunday Thompson (forearm) will be activated to start Sunday's game against the Brewers, Justice delos Santos of MLB.com reports.
Impact Thompson seemed to be trending in this direction after throwing live batting practice, and it's now official that he will oppose Brandon Woodruff in Sunday's series finale. Nerve inflammation in his forearm sidelined Thompson for a couple weeks, but he was quietly pitching well before the injury popped up, posting a 2.48 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in his prior nine appearances, albeit with only 29 strikeouts in 40 innings over that span.

Impact Wilson was far from stellar Saturday as he hit two Brewers in addition to permitting eight hits and a walk, but he was able to limit the damage to just two runs while receiving seven runs of support. The 24-year-old fired 54 of 85 pitches for strikes but recorded just five swinging strikes, though the four strikeouts match his second-best total in seven starts this year. With the solid performance, Wilson will likely stick in the rotation for at least one more turn with a start scheduled for midweek against Cincinnati.
