INJURIES

Sharp in no-decision Soroka allowed one run on two hits, a walk and a hit batsman while striking out five over six innings in a no-decision versus the Angels on Saturday.
Impact Soroka allowed two of those baserunners in the second inning and gave up his lone run on a double play grounder. This was one of Soroka's better starts of the season -- it was his fourth quality start of the year and the first time in his last four outings he's issued just one free pass. He's winless in that stretch with 11 runs allowed over 22.1 innings, but he's kept the ball in the yard over his last two starts. Soroka is at a 4.70 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 64:15 K:BB through 59.1 innings over 11 starts this season. The right-hander is lined up for a home start versus the Red Sox in his next outing.

Fans 10 in no-decision Soroka didn't factor into the decision Sunday against the Dodgers, allowing three runs on two hits and two walks with 10 strikeouts over 5.1 innings.
Impact Soroka kept the Dodgers scoreless through five innings and notched all 10 of his Ks before the sixth, but was quickly bounced from the contest in the sixth frame. He allowed a ground rule double, a walk and a hit-by-pitch, loading the bases for Jose Ferrer, who served up a grand slam to Max Muncy. Soroka has posted seven or more Ks in three of his last four starts, owning a 4.03 ERA and a 31:8 K:BB across 22.1 innings. He's tentatively scheduled to face the Angels next weekend.

Fans season-high nine in loss Soroka (3-5) took the loss Tuesday as the Nationals fell 10-6 to the Rockies, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out nine.
Impact The nine Ks were a season high for Soroka, who generated 30 called or swinging strikes among his 93 pitches (58 total strikes), while the quality start was his third of the year in nine trips to the mound. The right-hander also served up two homers however, on a night when Colorado tied a franchise record with seven long balls, and keeping the ball in the yard remains an issue for Soroka -- he's been taken deep 10 times in only 48 innings, fueling a 5.06 ERA that is out of sync with his 1.13 WHIP and 49:12 K:BB. He seems unlikely to solve the problem in his next start, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend against the Dodgers.

Falls to the Mets Soroka (3-4) took the loss Thursday against the Mets, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five.
Impact Soroka found himself in trouble early, issuing a pair of walks in the first inning before giving up a three-run homer to Jeff McNeil with two outs. Soroka would settle in, allowing just one additional run over his final four innings, but the Nats couldn't climb out of the early hole in an eventual 4-3 loss. The 27-year-old Soroka sports a 5.14 ERA despite posting a solid 1.12 WHIP and 40:10 K:BB through eight starts (42 innings) this season. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start, currently slated for next week at home versus the Rockies.

Blanks Rangers for third win Soroka (3-3) picked up the win in Friday's 2-0 victory over the Rangers, scattering two hits and a walk over six scoreless innings. He struck out seven.
Impact The right-hander produced his best performance of the season in a duel with former Nationals starter Patrick Corbin. Soroka retired the first eight batters he faced before plunking Kyle Higashioka with a pitch, and Texas didn't get a runner past second base all night. The quality start was Soroka's second of the season, but both have come in his last three trips to the mound, a stretch in which he's posted a 3.63 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB over 17.1 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Mets.

Gets plenty of support in win Soroka (2-3) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 5.1 innings to earn the win Saturday over the Diamondbacks.
Impact The Nationals put up 10 runs before Soroka threw a pitch, so he was able to work without much pressure. It wasn't all that effective of an outing, but he did enough to take care of business and earn his second win in the last three starts. This was the third start in a row in which he's pitched into the sixth inning. Soroka has a 5.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 28:6 K:BB over 31 innings through six starts this season.

Quality start in loss Soroka (1-3) took the loss Sunday against the Giants, allowing three runs on five hits and a walk across six innings. He struck out two.
Impact Soroka was able to make it through six innings for the first time this season, though he'd ultimately wind up with his third loss as the Nats couldn't overcome an early deficit. Overall, Soroka sports a 5.61 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB across five starts (25.2 innings) this year. He's currently in line to face the Diamondbacks on the road in his next outing.
