INJURIES

Expected return this week Soroka (shoulder) is expected to be activated for Arizona's series agaisnt Kansas City which begins Monday, MLB.com reports.
Impact Soroka came out of four-inning, 59-pitch simulated game Friday without issue and is expected to join the rotation early in the week. Both he and Zac Gallen (elbow) had positive simulated sessions Friday and each are expected to return during the series against the Royals. Given the five-day schedule for starters and that both are around 60 pitches, the two could team up to pitch the final game of the series Wednesday.

Set to throw sim game Friday Soroka (shoulder) will throw a simulated game Friday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact Soroka was placed on the injured list with right arm inflammation last week and is eyeing a minimum stay with a potential return next week if all goes well with his simulated game. The right-hander owns a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 91:24 K:BB across 95.1 innings spanning 18 starts this season.

Aiming for minimum IL stay Soroka (arm) said Monday that he expects to return following a minimum 15-day stay on the injured list, Jody Jackson of DBacks.tv reports.
Impact Soroka landed on the IL on Sunday with inflammation in his pitching arm, and the hurler believes he's merely going through a "dead arm" phase. While there is early optimism that the right-hander will be back on the active roster in two weeks, he will have to check several boxes of his rehab between now and then to make it a reality.

Lands on injured list The Diamondbacks placed Soroka on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right arm inflammation.
Impact The right-hander struggled in Saturday's start versus the Reds, surrendering six runs on six hits and three walks across 3.1 innings. Soroka missed nearly two months earlier this summer due to a glute injury, and an arm injury offers the possibility of a longer absence. He'll be eligible to be reinstated in early September but is without an official timeline for his return.

Takes step back in loss Soroka (8-4) allowed six runs on six hits, three walks and a hit batsman while striking out three over 3.1 innings, taking the loss Saturday versus the Reds.
Impact This was Soroka's worst start in three outings since he returned from a strained glute. He didn't give up a home run, but the Reds' top half of the order was able to collect two doubles and a triple off of him. Soroka is now at a 3.40 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 91:24 K:BB through 95.1 innings over 18 starts this season. This was just the fourth time he's allowed four or more runs, so consider it a blip on the radar. Soroka has a good chance to bounce back since his next start is projected to come in San Francisco.

Solid in no-decision Soroka didn't factor into the decision Sunday against Atlanta, allowing two runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out five.
Impact In two starts since returning from a nearly two-month stint on the IL, Soroka has allowed just two runs on nine hits over 10 innings. Overall, the right-hander is 8-3 with a 2.93 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 88:21 K:BB across 17 starts (92 innings) this season. Soroka is tentatively in line to face the Reds at home his next time out.

Steady in return Soroka (glute) allowed three hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.1 shutout innings in a no-decision versus the Rockies on Monday.
Impact Soroka didn't pitch deep enough into this game to earn the win, but it was a promising return after he missed nearly two months due to a glute strain. The right-hander threw 47 of 77 pitches for strikes, so a bit of inefficiency likely cost him the win in a game where Arizona was never threatened. Prior to the injury, Soroka was having a resurgent season -- he's at a 2.92 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 83:20 K:BB through 86.1 innings over 16 starts. He's tentatively projected to make his next start at Atlanta, though he may still have at least a slight workload limit.

AUGUST 10 • Associated Press
Reinstated from injured list The Diamondbacks reinstated Soroka (glute) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start against the Rockies on Monday.
Impact Soroka needed just one rehab start before being cleared to return to the Diamondbacks' rotation. Monday's start will be his first in the majors since June 19, as he's spent the last few weeks on the IL due to a left glute strain, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Soroka operate on a pitch count in his return. He has a 3.07 ERA and 1.09 WHIP over 82 innings this season.
AUGUST 10 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Monday Soroka (glute) will start Monday's contest on the mound versus the Rockies, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Soroka was rumored to be on track to make his return to a major-league mound Monday, and the Diamondbacks confirmed that to be the case following Sunday's 4-2 win over the Dodgers. Soroka has been sidelined since late June while recovering from a strained left glute, and he was able to toss 57 pitches in his only rehab start Tuesday with Triple-A Reno. The 29-year-old will likely be on a pitch count in his first major-league start in over seven weeks, but he'll be a welcomed addition to the rotation nonetheless. Prior to getting hurt, Soroka was experiencing a resurgence in 2026, posting a 3.07 ERA and 1.09 WHIP with 79 strikeouts over 82 innings in 15 starts with Arizona.
AUGUST 9 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to return Monday Soroka (glute) is expected to start Monday against the Rockies, MLB.com reports.
Impact Soroka needed one rehab outing to prove he's ready to be activated from the injured list. The right-hander reached 57 pitches last Tuesday in a start at Triple-A Reno. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks while walking one over four innings. This move was anticipated after the Diamondbacks optioned Kohl Drake to Reno on Friday.

Impact Soroka began a rebab assignment with the Aces, working his pitch count to 57 (37 strikes). That workload indicates the right-hander isn't far off from behind activated.
