Set to start rehab assignment Pineda (triceps) is expected to start a rehab assignment with Triple-A Toledo in the coming days, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Impact After a successful simulated game Wednesday, Pineda is now set to make two starts at Triple-A before the team makes a decision on whether or not to bring him back. Pineda has been out since July 24 after suffering a right triceps injury. Due to the fact that the Tigers are nowhere near playoff contention, they'll likely operate with little urgency to get him back into the rotation.

Impact Pineda landed on the injured list with a triceps injury Sunday but was cleared to begin a throwing program less than a week after the transaction. A timetable for the right-hander's return to game action isn't yet known, but it's encouraging that he was able to resume throwing so quickly after sustaining his injury.

Placed on 15-day IL Pineda (triceps) was placed on the 15-day injured list Sunday.

Impact Pineda had his right triceps tighten up on him Saturday night, forcing him to exit his start against the Twins early. He will now be on the shelf for at least two weeks while nursing his right arm. Pineda had said that the triceps was bothering him for a while, making it possible he remains on the IL longer than the minimum 15 days. Angel De Jesus was recalled from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday to replace him on the active roster.
