INJURIES

Could rejoin LA next week Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Grove (lat) could rejoin the team on its next homestand, per the Associated Press.
Impact Grove hasn't pitched for Los Angeles since Aug. 5, when he went 1.1 innings as an opener. The right-hander landed on the injured list the following day due to lat soreness and has made just one rehab appearance since, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out three batters for Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sept. 7. It's not clear what Grove has been doing to rehab since, but it appears that he could nonetheless return to the Dodgers, likely as a bullpen arm, as soon as Monday, when the team begins a seven-game homestand against Detroit and San Francisco.
SEPTEMBER 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Beginning rehab assignment Grove (lat) is set to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Impact It has already been determined that Grove will be returning to the Dodgers as a reliever, so this should be a relatively brief rehab stint even though he's been sidelined for over a month due to lat tightness. The 26-year-old right-hander carries a 6.61 ERA and 67:18 K:BB in 64 major-league innings (12 starts, three relief appearances) this season with Los Angeles.
SEPTEMBER 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Likely activated early next week Grove (lat) is expected to return to the Dodgers in a relief role early next week, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact Grove has primarily worked as a starter this season, but the 26-year-old right-hander is poised to operate in a multi-inning bullpen gig down the stretch following a month-long stay on the major-league injured list for a bout of right lat tightness. Ryan Pepiot will be the rotation replacement for Julio Urias, who is now on administrative leave following his Sunday arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence.
SEPTEMBER 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Could return next weekend Grove (lat) has been throwing at the Dodgers' complex in Arizona and could be activated to join the big-league bullpen next weekend, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.
Impact Grove has been on the shelf with right lat tightness since Aug. 5 but has recently been able to resume throwing. The right-hander may go on a minor-league rehab assignment with Los Angeles' Triple-A club in Oklahoma City prior to making his return to the majors, with the Dodgers' series in Washington that begins Sept. 8 looking like the target for his activation. Grove has started in 12 of his 15 appearances with the big-league club this season but will be a part of the team's bullpen upon his return, per Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register.

AUGUST 6, 2023 • STAR-TELEGRAM.COM
Lands on injured list Grove was placed on the 15-day injured list with right lat tightness Sunday.
Impact Grove served as an opener Saturday against the Padres and struck out four in 1.1 scoreless innings, but he's apparently dealing with an injury afterward and will be forced to miss time. It's unclear whether he'll be forced to miss more than the minimum of 15 days, but left-hander Bryan Hudson was called up Sunday to take his place on the active roster.
AUGUST 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Functions as opener Saturday Grove allowed a hit and struck out four without walking a batter over 1.1 scoreless innings Saturday versus the Padres. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact Grove was announced as the starter, but it ended up being more of an opener situation, with Ryan Yarbrough following him with 4.1 innings in bulk relief. That kind of arrangement may be the only way Grove sticks on the major-league roster in the near term. He was touched up for eight runs over six innings in his last start and still carries a 6.61 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 67:18 K:BB through 64 innings this season. While his strikeout numbers are solid, he'd likely be limited to low-leverage situations if he ends up as a traditional reliever going forward.
AUGUST 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Saturday The Dodgers announced Grove will start Saturday's game against the Padres, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact The right-hander was expected to move to the bullpen after he gave up eight runs in his previous outing, but he'll end up receiving another start Saturday. However, Grove may not have the workload of a traditional starter with Ryan Yarbrough a likely option to serve as a piggyback.
AUGUST 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Grinds out six innings Grove (2-3) allowed eight runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out 10 over six innings to take the loss Sunday versus the Reds.
Impact It wasn't pretty, as the Reds were ahead 3-0 after the first inning and 7-0 after the third before taking their foot off the gas. Grove hadn't pitched poorly in July, but this outing could be enough for him to lose his rotation spot to Lance Lynn, who is set to make his Dodgers debut Tuesday. Grove is at a 6.75 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 63:28 K:BB through 62.2 innings over 14 appearances (11 starts). It's unclear if Grove will be moved to the bullpen or optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City should he ultimately be taken out of the starting mix.
JULY 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out six Grove allowed two runs on eight hits and struck out six without walking a batter over 4.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Blue Jays on Monday.
Impact Grove was decent aside from the eight hits, throwing 48 of 68 pitches for strikes in the short start. It was just the second time all season he's avoided walking a batter. The right-hander is now at a 6.19 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 53:17 K:BB through 56.2 innings over 13 appearances (10 starts). Grove should stick in the rotation for another turn at home over the weekend versus the Reds. He may eventually lose his major-league roster spot with Noah Syndergaar (finger) and Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) working back from injuries.
JULY 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Notches second win Grove (2-2) earned the win Tuesday, allowing a run on five hits and two walks over five innings against the Orioles. He struck out four.
Impact Grove was solid Tuesday, holding Baltimore to a single run on an Aaron Hicks double in the second inning. It's an encouraging outing for the 26-year-old right-hander, lowering his ERA to a still-subpar 6.40 with a 1.54 WHIP and 47:17 K:BB through 52 innings. Grove will likely stick in the Dodgers' rotation until Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) can return from the IL. He's lined up to face the Blue Jays at home in his next outing.
JULY 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up first win Grove (1-2) allowed four runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over six innings to earn the win over the Angels on Saturday.
Impact Grove worked behind opener Alex Vesia, who tossed a scoreless first inning. Grove's outing began with four scoreless innings before he gave all four runs over his last two frames. The right-hander now has a 6.89 ERA, 1.55 WHIP and 43:15 K:BB through 47 innings over 11 appearances (eight starts) this season. Grove's stay in a starting or bulk-relief role likely depends on how much longer Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) will be out.
JULY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Slated to pitch Saturday Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Grove is expected to either start or cover the bulk of the innings out of the bullpen during Saturday's game against the Angels, Eric Stephen of S...
Impact The Dodgers' decision to add Triple-A Oklahoma City starter Landon Knack to the taxi squad Thursday created some uncertainty about whether Grove would pitch in the Los Angeles' final game before the All-Star break, but the right-hander looks like he'll make a second straight turn through the rotation after all. After being called up from Triple-A on Monday as a replacement for the injured Clayton Kershaw (shoulder), Grove proceeded to cover four innings in a starting role and gave up one run on five hits and two walks while taking a no-decision against the Pirates.
JULY 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Lasts four innings Monday Grove allowed a run on five hits and two walks while striking out three over four innings in a no-decision versus the Pirates on Monday.
Impact Grove threw 79 pitches (46 strikes), but manager Dave Roberts clearly didn't want him going through the order a third time. This was Grove's 10th big-league outing (eighth start) of the season, and he's covered at least five innings in four of them. The right-hander owns a 7.02 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 37:14 K:BB through 41 innings. With Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) out until at least mid-July, but it's unclear if Grove or Gavin Stone will get the nod when this spot in the rotation comes up again Saturday versus the Angels.
JULY 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Recalled and starting Monday Grove has been recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City to start Monday's game against the Pirates, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.
Impact Grove will get the nod in the series opener after the Dodgers confirmed that Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) would require a stint on the 15-day injured list. The right-hander recently toed the rubber June 28 in Colorado, surrendering four runs on eight hits and two walks while fanning three over five innings.
JULY 3, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Could be recalled Monday Grove will be recalled to start Monday against the Pirates if Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is placed on the injured list, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact Kershaw has dealt with left shoulder inflammation for several days, and the team continues to evaluate him ahead of Monday's series opener. Manager Dave Roberts said after Sunday's loss to the Royals that it's possible Kershaw lands on the IL, and he also said that Grove will take the mound to begin Monday's game if Kershaw is unavailable. Grove made five appearances for the major-league club in June and posted a 6.86 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 21 innings during that time.
JULY 2, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Optioned to Triple-A The Dodgers optioned Grove to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Thursday, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
Impact Grove gave up four earned runs on eight hits and two walks in a five-inning traditional start Wednesday at Coors Field. The 26-year-old swingman heads back to the minors with a 7.54 ERA in 37 total major-league innings for the year.
JUNE 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Fails to impress in start Grove allowed four runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three batters over five innings in a no-decision against Colorado on Wednesday.
Impact Pitchers struggling in the altitude of Colorado is hardly a rare occurrence, but it still felt like a missed opportunity for Grove to impress in his first start in nearly two weeks. The last time the right-hander took the mound as a starter, he served up four long balls; though Grove didn't allow any homers Wednesday, he failed to miss many bats, notching just six swinging strikes and three punchouts. The 26-year-old has had the chance to stake a claim for a rotation spot with seven starts on the campaign, but he hasn't done much to earn that role with a 7.54 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 34:12 K:BB over 37 frames across nine overall appearances.
JUNE 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Listed starter Wednesday Grove will get the start Wednesday at Colorado, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Impact Grove has been serving as a swingman for Los Angeles this season while struggling to a 7.59 ERA across 32 innings. The 26-year-old right-hander makes for a risky fantasy streaming option in Wednesday night's tilt at Coors Field.

JUNE 25, 2023 • SACBEE.COM
Working in bulk relief Grove will operate as the bulk reliever Wednesday versus the Angels, Kirsten Watson of SportsNet LA reports.
Impact Grove is set to follow Brusdar Graterol, who is serving as the Dodgers' opener Wednesday night at Angel Stadium. It's not a favorable pitching setup for fantasy purposes, though Grove will likely try to cover a good amount of innings. He holds an 8.10 ERA through seven major-league appearances (six starts) this year.
JUNE 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Called up for start vs. Angels Los Angeles recalled Grove from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Wednesday.
Impact Grove was called up ahead of his scheduled start Wednesday against the Angels. The right-hander has struggled in his previous action with the Dodgers this season, pitching to an 8.10 ERA and 1.60 WHIP over 30 innings. Shelby Miller (neck) was placed on the 15-day injured list in the corresponding transaction.
JUNE 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Confirmed to start Wednesday Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Grove will start for the Dodgers on Wednesday, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com reports.
Impact Grove was on the practice squad and with the team in Los Angeles, and it comes as no surprise that the right-hander will make the start in the second contest of the three-game set against the Angels. In 30 innings, Grove has posted an 8.10 ERA and 1.60 WHIP, and he'd be an extremely risky streaming option against Shohei Ohtani, Mike Trout and the rest of the Halos' lineup.
JUNE 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to start Wednesday Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters before Tuesday's tilt that it would "make sense" for Grove to start Wednesday's game versus the Angels, Matthew Moreno of DodgerBlue.com...
Impact Grove is on the taxi squad, and it would be an upset if anyone but the right-hander was on the bump for the Dodgers to begin Wednesday's tilt against their crosstown rivals. The right-hander has struggled with an ugly 8.10 ERA over 30 innings with the Dodgers this year, and it'd be hard to justify him as a fantasy option even as a streamer for Wednesday's game against the Halos.
