Jesús Sánchez - Playing time drops Sanchez is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Impact The 24-year-old has operated as Miami's starting center fielder all season, but J.J. Bleday is making his sixth straight start in center Friday. Sanchez has an .838 OPS through the first seven games of the second half, but overall he's struggled this season with a .207/.272/.396 slash line. He should continue to see some playing time in left field -- especially while Jorge Soler (back) and Jon Berti (groin) are on the IL -- though it appears Sanchez's time as an everyday starter is now in the rearview mirror, at least for the time being.

Jake Fraley - Not starting Friday Fraley isn't starting Friday against the Orioles.

Impact Fraley was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday, but he'll take on a bench role during his first game following his activation. It's not yet clear how much playing time Fraley will see, particularly once Albert Almora (illness) returns from the COVID-19 injured list. Matt Reynolds is starting in right field and batting seventh Friday.

Jake Fraley - Reinstated from 60-day IL Fraley (knee/toe) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list Friday.

Impact Fraley hasn't played in a major-league game since April 30 and suffered a setback in his recovery during a rehab assignment in late May. However, he resumed a rehab assignment July 13 and hit .290 with five runs, three RBI and a stolen base over nine games. The 27-year-old should have a chance to carve out more playing time in the Reds' outfield after Tyler Naquin was traded to the Mets on Thursday.

Jimmy Yacabonis - Makes rehab appearance Yacabonis (groin) worked around a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning in his rehab appearance Thursday for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Impact The Marlins will likely have Yacabonis make another appearance or two in the minors before activating him from the 15-day injured list. Yacabonis, who has been on the shelf since July 16 with a left groin strain, may not have a spot in the Miami bullpen once he's activated.

Cole Sulser - Embarks on rehab assignment Sulser (lat) made his first rehab appearance Tuesday for Single-A Jupiter, striking out the side over his lone inning of work.

Impact The appearance with the Single-A club marked Sulser's first at any level since June 12. Before he comes off the Marlins' 15-day injured list and rejoins the big-league bullpen, Sulser will likely need to make a few more appearances in the minors to get stretched back out.

Hunter Strickland - Lands on bereavement list Strickland (personal) was placed on the bereavement list Friday.

Impact Strickland picked up two saves this week before allowing three runs to take a blown save and a loss Thursday against the Marlins, and he'll now step away from the Reds due to an unspecified personal situation. The right-hander can remain on the bereavement list for 3-7 days, so he should rejoin the team next week. Alexis Diaz should operate as Cincinnati's primary closer in the meantime.
