Impact After the acquisition of David Robertson from the Mets, Miami will send Hoeing to the minors to free up a roster spot. The 26-year-old righty has a 4.57 ERA and 1.35 WHIP through 45.1 frames this season and could return to the Marlins later this season if they need a fresh arm.

Avisaíl García - Expects to be activated Sunday Garcia (back) said he anticipates being activated from the injured list Sunday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact After nearly three months on the injured list, Garcia is now finally nearing a return to the Marlins' roster. The 32-year-old outfielder looked good during his second rehab assignment, slashing .276/.432/.690 with three homers and eight RBI through 37 plate appearances in the minors. Given the production Miami has received from its outfielders this season, Garcia will likely be limited to a bench role once he returns.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. - Beginning assignment Sunday Chisholm (oblique) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter on Sunday, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports.
Impact Chisholm has been on the injured list since July 3 with a left oblique strain, but he's now ready to embark on a rehab assignment after completing a full on-field workout Friday. The Marlins haven't announced a specific target date for Chisholm's return, but it's possible he makes it back for the start of Miami's upcoming roadtrip against Texas.

Jesús Sánchez - Sitting out Saturday Sanchez isn't in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Tigers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact Sanchez is just 3-for-14 with a run scored across his last five contests, so he'll get a breather Saturday to regroup. Bryan De La Cruz will slide over to right field while Sanchez sits, allowing Jon Berti to start in left and bat fifth.

A.J. Puk - Locks down 16th save Puk picked up the save in Friday's 6-5 victory over the Tigers. He allowed one run on two hits and zero walks while striking out three over one inning.
Impact Puk allowed two hits and a run before ultimately earning his 16th save by striking out the side in the ninth. The left-hander had secured just one of his last four save chances and had given up nine runs over his last seven outings (6.1 innings), so while Friday's performance wasn't perfect, it was still a step in the right direction. Nonetheless, despite the bounce-back night, Puk will likely see fewer save chances moving forward, as Miami made a splash ahead of the trade deadline by acquiring veteran closer David Robertson from the Mets.

Braxton Garrett - Six strong innings Friday Garrett did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over six innings in a 6-5 victory over the Tigers. He struck out six.
Impact Garrett didn't allow an earned run versus the Tigers after surrendering 16 over his previous four starts. The long ball had been the left-hander's primary issue. He'd given up six home runs over five contests coming into Friday's matchup, including three last time out versus Colorado. Garrett has shown flashes of being an elite big-league pitcher, but he struggles to put everything together on a consistent basis. Regardless. He's already set a new career high with 111 strikeouts this year and will continue to add to that total as long as he stays healthy.

Impact The southpaw pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a run on two hits and a walk (JT Chargois allowed the inherited runner to score after Scott exited the game). Miami is downplaying the severity of the injury, but even a mild strain could threaten to push him to the injured list. Scott will need to show at least marginal improvement in the coming days.

Impact Out since July 2 due to a left oblique strain, Chisholm could require a rehab assignment before he rejoins Miami's lineup, but he appears to be closing in on a return to game action. The 25-year-old has had trouble staying healthy this season as he transitions to center field, but he's produced nine homers, 14 steals and a .745 OPS in 45 games.
