Jesus Luzardo - Fans nine in eighth win
Luzardo (8-5) earned the win against the Phillies on Sunday after he allowed two runs on four hits and one walk over 6.1 innings. He struck out nine.
Impact
The left-hander blanked Philly until the fifth inning, when Edmundo Sosa launched a two-run home run. Luzardo otherwise pitched well and combined for 29 called and swinging strikes as he struck out at least eight batters for the fourth straight start. The 25-year-old posted a 3.32 ERA in 18 starts last year and nearly replicated those figures during the first half of this season with a 3.29 ERA through 19 outings.

Dane Myers - Gaining traction in everyday role
Myers will start in center field and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Impact
Myers will pick up his fifth consecutive start in center after opening up his big-league career with an 7-for-18 showing from the plate while scoring three times and driving in five runs. The 27-year-old rookie looks like he'll be given a look as an everyday player while Jazz Chisholm (oblique) is on the shelf.

After recording back-to-back blown saves, Puk finally managed to put together a scoreless frame to secure his 15th save. Prior to the pair of missed opportunities, Puk had rattled off four straight scoreless appearances and given up just one hit over that stretch. Impact

All of the damage against Garrett came early, surrendering a solo homer to Trea Turner in the first, then giving up two more runs in the second inning. Over his last six appearances (34 innings), Garrett holds a 2.38 ERA and an elite 41:3 K:BB.

Jesús Sánchez - Sitting against lefty
Sanchez isn't in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against Philadelphia, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact
Lefty Ranger Suarez will start on the mound for the Phillies on Saturday, meaning the lefty-hitting Sanchez will remain in the dugout to begin the game. Jorge Soler will take over for Sanchez in right field, moving Garrett Cooper into the DH spot and Yuli Gurriel in at first base while batting fourth.

Wendle isn't in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Luis Arraez - Day off Saturday
Arraez isn't in the Marlins' lineup Saturday against the Phillies, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Impact

A.J. Puk - Blows save and takes loss Friday
Puk (4-3) blew the save and took the loss in Friday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies, allowing three runs on three hits over one inning. He struck out three and didn't record a walk.
Impact
Puk entered with a 3-1 lead in the top of the ninth and allowed a RBI double to Alec Bohm and a go-ahead, two-run shot to Cristian Pache before ending the frame. The left-hander has blown back-to-back saves and is now 14-for-18 in save chances this season. He sports a less-than-ideal 4.18 ERA across 29 appearances but has an elite 35:4 K:BB over 28 innings. Despite his recent struggles, Puk remains Miami's top closing option moving forward.

ROTOWIRE
Sandy Alcantara - Strikes out five in no decision
Alcantara did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing one run on eight hits over 6.2 innings against the Phillies. He struck out five and did no record a walk.
Impact
Alcantara allowed at least one home run for a second straight game and the 10th time over 18 appearances this season. However, that was the only damage done against the right-hander Friday, and he was in line for the win until A.J. Puk blew a two-run lead in the top of the ninth. It's certainly been a disappointing 2023 for the reigning NL Cy Young winner, as he currently boasts a career-worst 4.72 ERA and has a 7.4 K/9 -- his worst mark since 2019. Despite his struggles, Alcantara remains the ace of Miami's rotation and should get plenty of opportunities to right the ship following the All-Star break.
