INJURIES

Stuck with loss in quality start Perez (6-3) took the loss Friday, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks over six innings as the Rangers were downed 2-1 to the Blue Jays. He struck out three.
Impact The veteran southpaw made only one real mistake, but Danny Jansen ripped it over the left-field wall in the fifth inning for a two-run shot. The quality start was Perez's sixth of the season, but he's also been prone to meltdowns lately, coughing up at least six runs in three of eight outings since the beginning of May -- a stretch in which he carries a 6.18 ERA. 1.58 WHIP and 28:17 K:BB through 43.2 innings. He'll try to avoid another collapse in his next start, likely to come next week on the road against the White Sox.

Lit up in Tampa Perez (6-2) allowed seven runs on 10 hits and three walks while striking out two over 3.1 innings, taking the loss Sunday versus the Rays.
Impact The Rays did all of their damage against Perez, tallying just two hits after he exited the contest. This was the fourth time in his last seven outings that the veteran southpaw has given up at least four runs, including a pair of seven-spots. The loss was his first since April 8. Perez owns a 4.67 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 51:24 K:BB through 71.1 innings over 13 starts. He's lined up to make his next start at home versus the Blue Jays.
JUNE 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Let down by bullpen in no-decision Perez allowed an unearned run on three hits and one walk over seven innings in a no-decision against St. Louis on Monday. He struck out five batters.
Impact Perez tossed arguably his best game of the campaign, giving up a season-low three hits and tying a season high by completing seven frames. The only run he allowed was unearned, and he finished with his fifth quality start. The southpaw was in line for the win when he departed, but Grant Anderson gave up two runs in relief in the eighth inning, sending Perez to a no-decision. Despite that disappointment, Perez bounced back nicely after giving up six earned runs over 4.2 frames against Detroit his last time out.

Struggles in no-decision Perez did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing six runs on seven hits and four walks over 4.2 innings against Detroit. He struck out three.
Impact It's the second time this year that Perez has failed to make it through five innings. The 32-year-old southpaw has struggled in May, pitching to a 6.91 ERA through five starts. On the season, Perez is 6-1 with a 4.43 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 44:20 K:BB across 61innings. Perez will look to right the ship in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week against the Cardinals.

Could Rangers Lose Martin Perez? Martin Perez, already halfway to matching last season’s win total, is predicted to be one of the most coveted free agents.

Notches sixth win Perez (6-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and two walks over 7 innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.
Impact Perez has now logged seven innings in consecutive starts, allowing two runs in each outing. The veteran left-hander lowered his ERA to 3.83 with a 1.47 WHIP and 41:16. While Perez isn't expected to post large strikeout totals, it was somewhat concerning that his ground-ball rate was down to 38 percent after posting a career-best 52 percent mark last season. He took a step in the right direction Wednesday, coaxing 12 groundouts and just one flyout.
MAY 24, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Bounces back with solid win Perez (5-1) allowed two runs on seven hits through seven innings Friday, striking out seven and earning a win over Colorado.
Impact Perez faced little trouble through five shutout frames before Colorado plated two runs on four hits in the sixth inning. He coughed up 11 runs over his previous two starts but bounced back with his fifth win over the year. Perez tied his season best with seven strikeouts and lowered his ERA to 4.01 through 49.1 innings. He's currently expected to start in Pittsburgh next week.
MAY 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Turns in shaky outing Perez did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing four runs on eight hits and two walks over five innings against the Athletics. He struck out three.
Impact Perez certainly improved on his last appearance, when he coughed up seven runs in 3.2 innings against the Angels. However, this still wasn't a great showing, and it was against a historically bad Athletics team (9-31). The southpaw has a generous 1.61 WHIP so far this year, but there is good reason to believe that he can turn it around. The 32-year-old veteran posted a 2.41 ERA across six starts in the month of April, so this could possibly just be a rough patch.
MAY 13, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Ineffective Sunday Perez did not factor in the decision in Sunday's win over the Angels. He allowed seven runs on eight hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 3.2 innings.
Impact Both Perez and Jose Suarez struggled in a high-scoring contest that was at 11-7 through four innings. Perez had allowed a total of seven runs (six earned) over his previous four starts combined. The 32-year-old southpaw saw his ERA rise to 3.86 with a 1.55 WHIP and 28:12 K:BB across 37.1 innings through seven starts this season. He'll hope this is just a blip on the radar. Perez is tentatively scheduled for a favorable road start in Oakland during next weekend's four-game series.
MAY 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Cruises to fourth win Perez (4-1) got the win over the Yankees on Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and a walk while striking out two over six innings.
Impact It was an efficient outing for Perez on Sunday, who only needed 70 pitches to navigate through six innings. He undoubtedly could have kept going but there was no need to risk a possible injury with the Rangers up 14-1 by the end of the sixth. The 32-year-old induced plenty of weak contact and his only blemish on the day came in the third, after a single, a double and a groundout plated a run for the Yankees. Perez continues to find ways to get the job done despite his velocity being down a tick and that he's been giving up more fly balls than last year in the early going. He sits at a 2.41 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 26:9 K:BB over 33.2 innings and tentatively lines up to face the Angels on the road next weekend.

Pitches well in no-decision Perez did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing a run on six hits and a walk over 6.1 innings in a 7-6 loss to the Reds. He struck out five.
Impact Perez kept the Reds off the board for 6.1 innings, scattering six hits. However, the Rangers' bullpen would implode for a second straight night, costing Perez the win. The veteran left-hander is 3-1 with a 2.60 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB through his first five starts of the season. Perez currently lines up to face the Yankees at home in his next outing.
APRIL 26, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up third win Perez (3-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and zero walks over 5.2 innings during a 12-3 victory over the Royals. He struck out three.
Impact Perez got early run support and limited damage en route to his third win of the season. He was pulled in the sixth after allowing a two-out, RBI knock to Matt Duffy that cut Texas' lead to 5-3, but Jonathan Hernandez was able to retire the next batter. Perez has finished at least five innings in each of his first four starts this season and has given up just eight runs over 21.1 innings with a 19:7 K:BB.

Picks up second win Perez (2-1) allowed two runs on five hits and four walks over five innings Friday, striking out four and earning a win over the Astros.
Impact Despite a few threats from Houston's lineup, the only damage against Perez was a pair of solo home runs, including Yordan Alvarez's third-inning blast. Perez had issued just three walks in his first two outings and now owns a 16:7 K:BB through 15.2 frames. He's allowed two or fewer earned runs in each of his three starts. Perez is projected to start in Kansas City next week.

Lacks support Perez (1-1) was charged with Saturday's 10-3 loss to the Cubs after allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits while striking out five over five innings.
Impact Perez grinded through five innings while getting little support from a defense that made two errors behind him. The team made three more errors after Perez departed and had nearly as many errors (five) as hits (seven). The lefty's next outing is expected during the weekend series in Houston, either Friday or Saturday.

Works around trouble Sunday Perez (1-0) earned the win Sunday, allowing one run on eight hits and three walks over 5.2 innings in a 2-1 win over the Phillies. He struck out seven.
Impact Perez was far from perfect Sunday, but he was able to dial up timely double plays and get strikeouts when he needed to. The veteran left-hander was stellar for Texas in 2022, posting a 2.89 ERA and 1.26 WHIP with a 169:69 K:BB across 196.1 innings (32 starts), and he'll look to build off that in 2023.

Works five innings Tuesday Perez allowed one run on two hits and one walk while striking out five over five innings in Tuesday's spring start against Kansas City.
Impact Perez threw 70 pitches and another 15 in the bullpen in his final spring tune-up, per Dave Sessions of MLB.com. The left-hander is next scheduled to pitch Sunday at home against the Phillies.

Throws first outing since WBC Perez threw 73 pitches over four-plus innings Thursday against Kansas City minor leaguers, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports.
Impact Perez made his first appearance since returning from the World Baseball Classic, during which he threw just 3.1 innings over two weeks. The relative inactivity did not impact the left-hander's ability to build up for the regular season. He struck out eight and walked two before departing in the fifth. He'll make one more spring start, this time in the Cactus League, against Kansas City next Tuesday.

Settles in against the D-R Perez allowed one on four hits and two walks while striking out four over 3.1 innings in Team Venezuela's 5-1 win over Team Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic on Satu...
Impact Perez was down early after giving up a couple of hits to Julio Rodriguez and Juan Soto, but the left-hander settled in and gave his teammates time grab a lead it would not relinquish. Perez is coming off a career year and will be a key piece of a rotation that looks like one of the best on paper with the additions of Jacob deGrom, Andrew Heaney and Nathan Eovaldi.
