Ambushed early in seventh loss
Perez (8-7) took the loss Monday, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings against the Twins. He struck out three.
Impact
Perez ran into trouble early, surrendering four runs in the first frame. The southpaw was able to churn out four scoreless innings afterward, though the damage was done to saddle him with the loss. Monday snapped a three-start streak in which the 35-year-old logged 16 scoreless innings, with his season marks now sitting at a 3.15 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 83:45 K:BB across 111.1 innings (24 outings). Perez is tentatively scheduled to pitch Saturday against the Brewers.

Throws six scoreless frames in win
Perez (8-6) earned the win against the Mets on Tuesday, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out two across six scoreless innings.
Impact
Perez allowed at least one baserunner in five of the six innings he pitched Tuesday, but the only time the Mets advanced a runner to third base was in the sixth, which ended with a 4-6-3 double play. Perez has now tossed 16-straight scoreless innings spanning three starts and sits at a 2.96 ERA and 1.15 WHIP over 106.1 innings this season. His next start is lined up for next week on the road against the Twins in what projects to be a two-start week for the veteran southpaw.

Strong start shortened by rain
Perez tossed three scoreless and hitless innings in a no-decision against Miami on Thursday, issuing one walk and striking out three batters.
Impact
Perez cruised through three frames, throwing 22 of 35 pitches for strikes and limiting the Marlins to one baserunner (on a second-inning walk that was quickly wiped out by a double play). However, inclement weather delayed the game for over an hour, and Atlanta manager Walt Weiss elected to not send Perez back to the mound after play resumed. Perez nonetheless made another strong impression, improving his season ERA to 3.14. He's now given up just one hit zero runs across 10 innings over his past two starts, and he's projected to next take the mound -- presumably with a pretty fresh arm -- at home versus the Mets early next week.

Dominant in last-minute start
Perez (7-6) earned the win over Washington on Saturday, allowing one hit and walking two batters while striking out six over seven scoreless innings.
Impact
Perez was originally slated to pitch Sunday, but he was moved up a day after Reynaldo Lopez was scratched due to a knee injury he suffered while warming up. The last-minute adjustment didn't phase Perez at all, as he no-hit the Nationals until there were two outs in the seventh inning. The left-hander needed just 78 pitches to complete seven frames in his longest outing of the campaign. With Lopez expected to go on the injured list, per Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Perez's importance to the rotation becomes even more emphatic. The veteran hurler holds a 3.24 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 75:39 K:BB over 97.1 innings spanning 21 games (17 starts).

Completes five frames Monday
Perez allowed three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Monday.
Impact
Perez was tormented by Francisco Lindor, who accounted for all of the scoring against him with an RBI triple and a two-run homer. The veteran lefty gave up plenty of traffic beyond those two hits but otherwise kept Atlanta in the hunt until the Mets exploded for 11 runs after his departure. Perez worked up to 87 pitches in his five frames, up from the 75 pitches and four innings he logged last Wednesday in his first start back from a stint on the 15-day IL due to a forearm injury. He seems to be fully recovered from that issue and is scheduled to make his next start at home versus Washington.

Four shutout innings in return
Perez took a no-decision Wednesday against the Padres, allowing no runs on one hit and four walks in four innings. He struck out three.
Impact
Making his return from the 15-day injured list with a bruised forearm, Perez fared about as well as Atlanta could have hoped for Wednesday. The 35-year-old southpaw showed some signs of rust with a lack of control, matching a season high in walks, but he still turned in his first scoreless start since April 28 against Detroit. Perez will take a 3.38 ERA, his best mark since 2022 with Texas, 1.20 WHIP and a 65:36 K:BB over 85.1 innings into his next scheduled outing in New York against the last-place Mets.
