A frustrating night for MacKenzie Gore leaves the Nationals at a loss After a strong recent run, the lefty allowed seven runs (just two earned) and couldn’t complete the fourth inning as the Braves routed the N...

Sharp in no-decision Gore came away with a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Marlins, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over six innings. He struck out nine.
Impact The southpaw retired the first 16 batters he faced, but a walk followed by a Nick Fortes RBI double ended any shot at history Gore might have had. The quality start was his eighth of the season, tying the career high he set in 2023, and he seems to have turned things around after a rough patch coming out of the All-Star break -- over his last three outings, all quality starts, Gore has a 2.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 19:2 K:BB in 18 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next trip to the mound, which lines up to come at home early next week against Atlanta.

Tames Yankees for eighth victory Gore (8-11) earned the win over the Yankees on Wednesday, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six batters over six innings.
Impact Gore was solid against one of the league's top offenses, racking up 14 whiffs and finishing with just his second victory over his past 13 starts. The southpaw allowed a second-inning solo homer to Jazz Chisholm but gave up just one additional run from that point on. Gore had an 11-start stretch without a quality start between mid-June and mid-August, during which he posted a 6.75 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB over 50.2 innings. He may be turning things around, though, as he's now notched consecutive quality starts, allowing just three runs while registering a 10:1 K:BB across 12 frames over that span.

Delivers quality start Gore allowed a run on seven hits over six innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out four during the extra-inning loss against Atlanta.
Impact Gore gave up a solo homer to Michael Harris on just the second pitch of his outing but looked strong otherwise. It was the first time since July 1 that Gore gave up fewer than three runs in a start. He also turned in his first quality start since June 14. Gore posted a 2.91 ERA through the end of May but has registered a 5.79 ERA since the start of June. For the year, Gore is 7-11 with a 4.51 ERA and a 140:54 K:BB through 26 starts. He's currently lined up for a home tilt against the Yankees next week.
AUGUST 24, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles continue Saturday Gore (7-11) took the loss Saturday as the Nationals were downed 5-1 by the Phillies, coughing up five runs on nine hits and two walks over 5.2 innings. He struck out six.
Impact The southpaw held a 3.24 ERA after a June 14 win over the Marlins, but since then Gore's campaign has gone completely off the rails. He's been tagged for at least five runs in three straight starts and six of his last 11, going 1-6 over that stretch with a 6.75 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 45:31 K:BB in 50.2 innings. While his control hasn't been sharp, he's also been somewhat unlucky given his .370 BABIP on the year, and his 4.66 ERA is outpacing his 3.62 FIP by a wide margin. Gore will try to find a way to stop the bleeding in his next outing, which lines up to come on the road next weekend in Atlanta.
AUGUST 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Walks six in 10th loss Gore (7-10) was saddled with the loss Sunday, allowing five runs (zero earned) on five hits and six walks over four innings against the Angels. He struck out two.
Impact Gore produced a bit of a weird line as it was just the second time all year he failed to allow an earned run, thanks to a fielding error by Jose Tena that directly allowed one run to score and helped set up four more. That's where Gore took over, walking four of a season-high six batters in the fateful fourth that culminated with a bases-clearing double by Kevin Pillar. Gore was removed after the inning and saddled with his 10th loss of the season. Gore was coming off his first win in nearly two months following his last start and will look to rebound in his next slated matchup against the Phillies in the City of Brotherly Love.
AUGUST 11, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Strikes out six in win Gore (7-9) earned the win against the Giants on Tuesday, allowing five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks with six strikeouts across five innings.
Impact Gore surrendered four runs on two homers in the first inning but settled in to earn his first win since June 14. While the victory is a positive, the southpaw has yielded four or more earned runs in five of his past 10 outings while recording just one quality start in that span. He owns a 4.66 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 128:46 K:BB across 116 innings and lines up for a matchup with the Angels this weekend.
AUGUST 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fans just one batter in defeat Gore (6-9) took the loss against Arizona on Wednesday, allowing three runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one batter over 5.1 innings.
Impact Though he's been up-and-down in terms of allowing runs this season, Gore entered Wednesday's contest with a healthy 10.3 K/9 over 105.2 frames. It comes as a surprise, then, to see just one punchout on his final stat line, though it's the second time he's posted that total over his past seven starts. In fact, Gore's production has been quite poor over that span, as he's recorded a 7.84 ERA and 24:19 K:BB over 31 innings. It appeared at times earlier in the campaign that Gore could be in the midst of a breakout, but he hasn't picked up a win since mid-June and is now sporting a 4.54 ERA, which would be the worst mark of his three-year career.
AUGUST 1, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Coughs up six runs Gore yielded six runs on nine hits and two walks over five innings in a no-decision Friday. He struck out three during the extra-innings win over St. Louis.
Impact Most of the damage against Gore came during a disastrous third inning. He served up a two-run shot to Masyn Winn followed by a three-run blast from Nolan Arenado. After posting a terrific 2.91 ERA through the end of May, Gore has registered a 6.51 ERA since the start of June. He's allowed at least four runs in five of those 10 starts. Gore now owns a 4.51 ERA with a 121:43 K:BB through 105.2 innings. His next start is projected to be in Arizona.
JULY 27, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles in short start Gore allowed three runs on two hits and four walks while striking out two batters over two innings in a no-decision against Cincinnati on Saturday.
Impact Gore allowed a pair of runs in the first inning and another in the second before giving way to a reliever. He needed 67 pitches to get through the pair of frames, and only 37 of his offerings were strikes. All three of the runners who scored against Gore got aboard by way of a walk, and the southpaw's four free passes tied his second-highest mark this season. This was Gore's shortest start of the campaign and the third straight outing in which he has failed to complete five frames. Over that span, he's given up 12 earned runs over 10 innings.

Can't escape fifth inning Gore (6-8) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks over 4.2 innings against the Mets. He struck out four.
Impact Gore was mired in a scoreless pitcher's duel with Mets' starter David Peterson through four but fell apart in the fifth, loading the bases to set up a Brandon Nimmo bases-clearing double that ended Gore's day. Nimmo later scored, saddling Gore with a fourth earned run to further damage his final line. Following a start to the season that saw Gore allow three or fewer earned runs during 14 of his first 15 starts, Gore has now allowed four or more in three of his last four outings. While his WHIP has risen just 0.05 points from 1.38 to 1.43 over the last four, his ERA has risen by three-quarters of a run from 3.26 to 4.01. Gore will now receive some extra time to reset as his next start won't come until after next week's All-Star break.

Folds early against Cards Gore came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 14-6 win over St. Louis, coughing up five runs on six hits and five walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out five.
Impact The southpaw has shown improved control and command overall in 2024, but Gore couldn't find the plate Saturday and needed 90 pitches (52 strikes) to record 10 outs, failing to take advantage of a huge offensive outburst by the Nats. He's failed to complete six innings in four straight outings and six of seven since the beginning of June, stumbling to a 5.35 ERA, 1.70 WHIP and 40:17 K:BB through 35.1 innings over that stretch. Gore will try to get back on track in his next start, which lines up to come on the road next week against the Mets.
JULY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Fans eight in no-decision Gore did not factor into the decision in Monday's 9-7 loss to the Mets, allowing one run on five hits and one walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Impact The Washington southpaw created an incredible 21 whiffs to collect his eight punchouts, and he left the game with the Nationals ahead 2-0 only to watch Derek Law immediately cough up the lead. This was a bounce-back performance for Gore as he struggled in five June starts with a 5.13 ERA across 26.1 innings. The 25-year-old's season ERA now stands at 3.47 with 107:29 K:BB over 90.2 innings. He is tentatively scheduled to make his next outing against the Cardinals at home this weekend.

JULY 1, 2024 • WASHINGTONPOST.COM
Yields five runs in loss Gore (6-7) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out one over five innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Padres.
Impact Gore struggled against the team that drafted him, as the Padres put up multiple runs in the first and fifth innings. He may have been rattled by the two teams clearing the benches in the first inning after Keibert Ruiz and Jurickson Profar exchanged words -- Gore's next pitch hit Profar on the back foot, and the one after that was crushed by Manny Machado for a two-run homer. The southpaw has lost three of his five starts in June, giving up 18 runs (17 earned) over 26.1 innings. He's now at a 3.81 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 99:28 K:BB through 85 innings across 16 starts on the year. Gore is projected to make his next start at home versus the Mets.

Start pushed back to Friday Gore's next scheduled start will be pushed back a day to Friday versus the Marlins due to a fingernail issue, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Gore had been slated to take the ball in Thursday's series finale in Detroit, but that assignment will now fall to Patrick Corbin. Having a start pushed back one day isn't a big deal, but because fingernail issues can sometimes flare up, fantasy managers will want to check back on Gore's status to make sure he will indeed be ready to start Friday.
JUNE 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Dominates Atlanta with 10 punchouts Gore (4-4) earned the win over Atlanta on Wednesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits and no walks while striking out 10 batters over 5.1 innings.
Impact Gore flustered Atlanta throughout the outing, and his 10 strikeouts marked his second-highest total of the season. The southpaw couldn't extend a three-game quality-start streak, but he did push his stretch of appearances allowing two or fewer earned runs to seven. Gore is in the midst of a breakout campaign, posting a 2.91 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 72:17 K:BB through 58.2 innings.
