Dealing with UCL damage Jackson (forearm) recently underwent an MRI that revealed damage to his UCL.

Impact Jackson dealt with forearm tightness this week and was initially labeled as day-to-day, but it appears as though he'll be forced to miss significant time. UCL damage can often lead to Tommy John surgery, and the right-hander is undergoing a comprehensive evaluation process to determine his recovery process. It's possible that he'll be unavailable for most or all of the 2022 campaign following his diagnosis.

Impact The side session marks a step forward for Jackson after he missed a week of workouts at the start of camp due to forearm tightness, but manager Brian Snitker is still characterizing the right-hander as "day-to-day" as Opening Day nears. Atlanta hasn't yet ruled Jackson out from avoiding a trip to the injured list to begin the season, but he'll presumably need to advance to facing hitters within the next few days to have a shot at breaking camp as a member of the big club's bullpen.

Impact Forearm tightness can sometimes be the first sign of a very serious injury, though the fact that Jackson is merely considered day-to-day may suggest that this isn't one of those cases. While he's resumed throwing, the issue has so far prevented him from pitching in a Grapefruit League game, so it's possible he'll be forced to open the season on the injured list even if his forearm tightness proves to be relatively minor.
