After opting out, Luke Voit is staying with the Brewers by signing a one-year contract
After he opted out of his contract, Luke Voit and the Brewers worked out an agreement on a one-year deal with an option for 2024.

Back with Brewers on one-year pact
Voit re-signed with the Brewers on a one-year deal with a club option for 2024 on Monday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Voit technically opted out of his minor-league contract with the Brewers over the weekend, but his return seemed likely after the team dumped Keston Hiura and now it's official. The 32-year-old should play regularly against left-handers and will get a little action versus righties, too, on days Jesse Winker plays the outfield.

Opts out, but could return
Voit opted out of his minor-league contract with the Brewers on Saturday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
Multiple writers who cover the Brewers are calling this a "procedural move" for Voit. The infielder is now eligible to negotiate with other clubs, but it appears there's interest in a reunion -- for lack of a better term -- between the two clubs. It would not be a shock if Voit was back with Milwaukee on a guaranteed deal, but there are other clubs who could use his services at this point in time as well.

Scratch not injury-related
Voit's removal from the Brewers' Cactus League lineup Friday was not injury-related, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
It seems to have more to do with the pending opt-out clause in Voit's minor-league contract with Milwaukee. The 32-year-old slugger has slashed .316/.333/.526 with two home runs and two doubles over 39 plate appearances this spring in the Cactus League, so he should have other offers out there if the Brewers don't give him an Opening Day roster spot.

Scratched from lineup
Voit (undisclosed) was removed from Friday's lineup versus the Rockies, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact
After he was initially set to start at first base and bat fifth, Voit was pulled from the lineup for an undisclosed reason. It's possible that the 32-year-old is on the verge of becoming a free agent, considering his opt-out clause was pushed to Friday.

Opt-out clause pushed back
Voit's opt-out clause has been pushed to Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
There is apparently mutual interest in things working out with Voit in Milwaukee, which is why he did not exercise his opt-out clause this week. The Brewers will look to find a way to add him to the 40-man roster before next weekend, but even if Voit makes the team, he is unlikely to start against righties with Rowdy Tellez at first base and Jesse Winker presumably getting most of his starts at designated hitter.

Has out clause Thursday
Voit's minor-league contract with the Brewers contains an out clause that he can exercise Thursday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Voit went 2-for-2 with a walk Monday versus the Reds and is now batting .346/.370/.538 with one home run over 10 Cactus League games. The Brewers surely would like to keep him around, but complicating matters is that Keston Hiura is competing for a similar role and he's out of options. Milwaukee and Voit will have some decisions to make this week.

Gets minors deal from Brewers
Voit signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Tuesday that includes an invitation to spring training, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
Impact
Voit is coming off a season for the Padres and Nationals in which he posted a .226/.308/.402 batting line with 22 home runs and 69 RBI. He'll give the Brew Crew another option at designated hitter and first base and would figure to be part of the Opening Day roster, barring any surprises. Voit turned 32 last week.

Officially non-tendered
The Nationals declined to tender Voit a contract for 2023, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact
Rumors were swirling that Voit was likely to be non-tendered, and indeed the Nats decided to cut ties rather than pay Voit north of $5.5 million in arbitration. Voit hit just .228/.295/.381 with nine homers in 53 games with Washington after coming over from San Diego. He famously led the majors in homers with 22 during the shortened 2020 campaign.

Launches two-run homer
Voit went 2-for-5 with a two-run home run and three runs scored in a 13-4 win over Philadelphia in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Impact
Voit crushed a two-run, 440-foot blast off Kyle Gibson to complete a five-run inning for the Nats in the second. The first baseman later added a single in the seventh and came across to score three times in the game for only the second time this season. Voit has five RBI in his last five games and produced 10 RBI in the month of September, to go along with three homers.
