Slugs homer Tuesday Voit went 1-for-4 with one homer, one RBI and one run scored in Tuesday's 7-5 extra-innings loss to the Cubs.
Impact Voit crushed a fastball to left field in the eighth inning to pull the game to 4-3 before Lane Thomas hit a home run later in the inning, which helped the Nationals send the game into extras. The homer is Voit's 16th on the season and first since Aug. 8. While the Nationals lineup is weaker than San Diego's, the first baseman has been given every day playing time and is hitting in the middle of the lineup, which has given him ample run producing opportunities.

Slugs 15th homer Voit went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Monday's 6-3 loss to the Cubs.
Impact The 31-year-old got the Nationals on the board by taking Keegan Thompson deep in the sixth inning. Voit has come out swinging since the trade from San Diego, going 7-for-17 (.412) through his first five games for Washington with two homers and three RBI, but on the season he's still slashing just .235/.327/.435 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI through 87 contests.

Hits first homer with Nats Voit went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-5 loss to the Phillies.
Impact Voit has gotten off to a good start to his time in Washington, having gone 4-for-10 with a walk in addition to the home run. He'll start at first base and bat third in Sunday's series finale, and manager Dave Martinez said Voit will be a regular in the lineup down the stretch.

Making debut, will play regularly Voit will start at first base and bat third in Thursday's game against the Phillies.
Impact The lone veteran the Nationals took back as part of the six-player haul they received Tuesday in the deal that sent Juan Soto and Josh Bell to the Padres, Voit will be making his Washington debut Thursday. Though he's 31 years old and doesn't necessarily fit in with the 36-70 Nationals' long-term rebuilding plan, Voit is under club control through 2024 and is expected to be a key cog in the lineup for the time being. Manager Dave Martinez confirmed Wednesday that Voit will be the Nationals' first baseman or designated hitter for the rest of the season while slotting into the heart of the order, according to Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com.

Not starting Wednesday Voit isn't starting Wednesday against the Mets.
Impact Voit was dealt from the Padres to the Nationals on Tuesday, but he won't be in Washington's starting lineup a day later. According to Jesse Dougherty of The Washington Post, Voit isn't yet in Washington and will instead join the team in Philadelphia for its upcoming four-game series with the Phillies, so he could make his Nationals debut as soon as Thursday. Joey Meneses will pick up a start at first base in Voit's stead Wednesday.

Going to Washington in Soto deal The Nationals acquired Voit, left-hander MacKenzie Gore, right-hander Jarlin Susana, outfielders Robert Hassell and James Wood and shortstop CJ Abrams from the Padres on Tuesday in...
Impact San Diego initially planned to include Eric Hosmer as the veteran piece headed to the Nationals in the blockbluster deal, but Hosmer used his no-trade clause to decline the move to Washington. Hosmer was later shipped to Boston, and the Padres and Nationals kept the skeleton of the deal in place until Voit was swapped in for Hosmer as a replacement. With Washington, Voit should slot into the everyday role at first base that was vacated by Bell. The move from one of baseball's top teams to one of its worst may hurt Voit from a run-producing and run-scoring standpoint, but he should at least face less competition for at-bats in his new organization. Voit hit .225 with 13 home runs, one stolen base, 48 RBI and 38 runs in 82 games with San Diego this season.
