Taylor Ward - Goes deep in loss Ward went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 5-1 loss to San Diego.
Impact That's now four homers in the month of May so far for Ward, who's left the yard four times in his last nine outings. The veteran outfielder has only nine hits in his last 10 games, but six of them have gone for extra bases to help give him 12 RBI during this span. The Angels have begun to regularly use Ward in the middle part of their lineup as opposed to the leadoff spot, which should continue to hurt his run-scoring upside but increase his RBI potential.

Xander Bogaerts - Goes yard Wednesday Bogaerts went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 5-1 win over the Angels.
Impact Bogaerts hasn't shown much in the way of power overall in 2025, but he's now smashed three home runs in his last 14 games. Despite batting just .245 during this period, the veteran infielder does have 15 RBI and two stolen bases over his last 49 at-bats. As long as he maintains a spot in the heart of San Diego's batting order, Bogaerts should continue to see plenty of RBI chances going forward.

Kyle Hendricks - Quality start in fifth loss Hendricks (1-5) took the loss Wednesday against the Padres after allowing three runs on five hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out four.
Impact Despite getting only four swings and misses, Hendricks was still able to register his third quality start of the year. The veteran right-hander settled in nicely after serving up a three-run jack to Xander Bogaerts in the first inning, but Hendricks has now surrendered a long ball in all but one of his eight outings in 2025. Hendricks has a 3.38 ERA and 12:4 K:BB through three starts (18.2 innings) in May, but he'll be tough to trust in his next time out against an Athletics team that ranks third in MLB in batting average (.263) through 42 games.

Xander Bogaerts' 3-run homer in 1st inning propels Vásquez, Padres to 5-1 win over Angels

Randy Vásquez - Six strong innings in third win Vasquez (3-3) earned the win Wednesday against the Angels after allowing one run on four hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out five.
Impact Vasquez tied a season high in punchouts, and he now owns a 10:2 K:BB in his last two starts after posting a disastrous 13:24 K:BB in his first seven outings of the year. The right-hander has also tossed at least five frames while conceding two runs or fewer in six appearances on the campaign. With Yu Darvish (elbow) going on a rehab assignment, it's unclear if Vasquez will hold onto a rotation spot once the former returns. That said, Vasquez will bring a 3.45 ERA and 1.49 WHIP over 44.1 innings into his next scheduled start against a hot Blue Jays offense.
