Escapes danger Allen did not factor into the decision Thursday, allowing one run on seven hits and one walk over 5.2 innings in a 3-1 win over the White Sox. He struck out five.

Impact Allen nearly had a disaster outing, as he loaded the bases in the second inning with no outs. But the lefty induced a pop up before two strikeouts to strand all three runners. Allen has flirted with danger recently, allowing seven or more hits in each of his last three starts. His 29 strikeouts in 26.2 innings have helped him keep a 3.04 ERA in his rookie season.

Impact Allen worked through three shutout frames before the Angels brought home three runs in a long fourth inning. It was the shortest outing of his young career and his first time allowing more than two runs. The 24-year-old now holds a 3.43 ERA and a 24:7 K:BB through 21 innings. Allen is lined up for a road start against the White Sox next week.

Impact Allen was good again in his second MLB start. He allowed just two runs on Alex Verdugo's two-run single in the fifth inning. However, he took his first loss as the Guardians could only provide one supporting run. Allen has now struck out eight batters in each of his first two outings while issuing just three walks. The 24-year-old left-hander has a 1.50 ERA and 1.00 WHIP through his first 11 innings. Allen will likely make at least one more start for Cleveland with Triston McKenzie (shoulder) and Aaron Civale (oblique) still sidelined.

Picks up another start Allen is scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Impact Allen will get another turn through the Cleveland rotation after he dazzled in his MLB debut last Sunday against the Marlins, striking out eight while allowing only one earned run on five hits and one walk across six innings. Manager Terry Francona has said that both Allen and fellow rookie Tanner Bibee with stick around with the big club for at least a few more days, but Cleveland may have only one rotation spot available for the two young hurlers until at least one of Aaron Civale (oblique) or Triston McKenzie (shoulder) returns from the injured list. A poor showing in Boston could put Allen at risk of a demotion to Triple-A Columbus.
